I watched Monster in law yesterday. It was dull and with a little cheap humor. Plus J. Lo's acting was mediocre. _________________

There's your problem right there: it's a Jennifer Lopez movie. _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

If you're going to go with an old movie to make fun of, I'd suggest The Terror of Tiny Town. It's an all midget western. That alone lets you know that it'll be good. Note to self: get copy of said movie. _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

Speaking of oddball films, did you ever get Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter? Or has anyone else actually seen it? I remain intrigued... _________________

It wasn't that worse then.
Barb Wire was a fiasco. So was Pamela Anderson. I've seen her without make-up. Here:

Yah, but you know? Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Have you seen it? If you haven't seen it, don't. The only reason it might not belong on this list is that it was supposed to be campy garbage. So maybe that disqualifies it.
Mission to Mars
Armageddon
Two movies that take place off of the earth's surface, that were written and made by seriously science-challenged retarded non-technicals. Actually, the part of Armageddon that take place on the earth's surface are kinda funny. But since most of it takes place off the earth's surface, it totally sucks.
All three of the Lord of the Rings movies.
I am coming at this from a rather rare perspective. I have read the trilogy at least 30 times. So my tolerance for variance is rather limited. I knew they were going to leave out Tom Bombadil. I knew they were going to have to change some things. But did they have to make Gandalf into a total fool? No. No they didn't.
But they did. He sent Frodo off, with no plan, no preparations, no cover story. And please, Gandalf battling Saruman in Saruman's own stronghold??? No, he was far too wise for that. That was the point at which I got up and walked out of the theater. And, other than occasional glimpses whilst channel surfing, I have not watched any more of it. And those glimpses have only confirmed my choice.

Ahem.
Sorry, where was I?
Oh, yes, bad movies.
Well, I don't see a lot of movies, so, I will have to take your word for it on a lot of these, but I have seen Manos, Hands of Fate. It was the MST3K version, so I was rather entertained. Actually, the filmograpy that comprises the MST3K catalog is probably the best list of bad movies available. _________________

You know, normally I get totally pissed about people who say they think LotR sucked, but you argumented it pretty well, and I see what you mean.
It's still not going to change my undying and unhealthy love for the movies though... but that's a whole other story _________________

Dude, let him be. If he hates the LotR trilogy for those reasons, than it's okay... I can actually understand it.
Doesn't mean I hate the movies.
Anyhoo, Zombie High is a pretty crappy movie. _________________

In The Mouth Of Madness was pretty bad as movies go, but the premise was fucking fantastic! You know how sometimes there are movies that are only just okay or so-so, but the subtext of the main plot is so profound that it makes up for the shittiness of the movie? This is one of them.
The movie is about a horror writer on the caliber of a Stephen King or a Dean Koontz who goes missing. Fans of his work start believing so strongly in the characters and events of his books that they actually form a sort of worldwide cult devoted to this novel, start acting out the violent and bizarre events written in the novel, and it's like the novels are coming to life. Sam Neil is an insurance investigator looking into the writer's disappearance. His search for answers leads him to a town that only exists in the novels of the writer...
The premise that really made my mind whirl: if enough people read a work of fiction and believe it to be true, then act on it as if it were true, it might as well have been true. Hence, the Bible explained. _________________ "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."

| Frost wrote: | | Yes.. the kids these days. But thats what scares me. I could be considered one of the "kids these days". Depends on what age group you mean by kids. Small kids, big kids, kids who climb on rocks? Im probly the youngest of us here. If Im one of the "kids these days" I still dont get this movie... ^^ |
Two things about this:
- First, there were no kids in my classes who gave this movie a bad review. There were many many kids in my classes who wore Napoleon Dynamate t-shirts, and many many more who strongly encouraged me to watch the movie. (I haven't, btw)
These are kids aged 14 - 18, just to clarify.
- Second, your "kids who climb on rocks" reference, just kind of in passing, puts you in a totally different category, no matter your age. That is from a commercial that wasn't new when I first saw it. And I first saw it as a kid, in the late 60s or early 70s.
So, the fact that you don't share the same tastes with other "kids these days" is kind of to be expected.
Glory in it.
Consider it a badge of honor. I honor you for it. Whatever that is worth.

IMAO, the only good thing to come from those movies.
Had I come to the movies from a different perspective, say, never having read the books, I probably would have loved them. I totally understand why other people love them. As long as I can avoid having to watch them myself, I am not troubled in any way by the fact that other people love them.
With other movies that I think suck, I get annoyed when other people love them. Armageddon is a prime example of that kind of movie. Of course, I come to that movie from a rare perspective too, having worked in the Mission Control Center as a navigator for the Space Shuttle.
But anyway, I am rattling.
Thank you Aramor, for your consideration. You are displaying the maturity that you often hide. =D _________________
