I think that notion of having more energy and motivation goes back to that outdated idea that you somehow lose your chi along with your bodily fluids, lol.

It depends whether or not the intended test of will is the abstinence from sexual satisfaction, or the abstinence from sexually satisfying yourself. If it's the former, then "being jerked off" definitely defeats the purpose. Same with having a regular partner.
