| OH MY GOD! I have never laughed so hard. What makes it even more choice, is that the actor portraying Borat is jewish and speaks Hebrew. Everyone should go see this movie, NOW! |

FINNALLY SOMEONE ELSE BUT ME SAW IT!!!!
I fucking saw this movie on opening night. I've never laughed so hard. I laughed even more than in Clerks.
But as funny as it was. It kinda sucked. I mean really, no story. Just cold racial jokes. That was the whole movie.
NOT!
I am sooo buying this movie film. _________________ Only the strongest will survive.

I saw it just before it left theaters, the Hotel dick scene was a little unnecessary... _________________

I thought the scene where they throw money at the cockroaches to make their escape was the best thing I'd seen on tv in years. Awesome.. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Dude, this movie was excellent. I stand mega-corrected, I thought it would be the most retarded piece of shit in the world, but it was AWEXOME!1!!1!!
My favorite part is when he grabs Pamela Anderson and puts her in the bag, I NEARLY SHIT MY PANTS when I saw that!
"I am not attracted to you anymore Pamela....NOT!"
edit: When I bought this on DVD, there was a freaking t-shirt!!! It was so awesome!
@Lonely_Guy, I agree, the hotel scene was a bit overboard. _________________

The hotel/wrestling scene was not overboard. It is just another example of what was , perhaps, one of the more prominent themes of the movie -- exposing differences in cultural prejudices through the use of "shock".
Ask yourself (and be honest) -- if it were two women, would you have made the same statement about the scene being overboard? Or would you watch it over and over again? I tend to think the latter. Through popular culture, men learn to believe that the sexual ideal is watching two lesbians, right? That way no one can question your own sexual identity. Likewise, men are supposed to not appreciate the same scene with two men, even if it isn't sexual in nature. By objecting to said scene, men reinforce that they are part of the sexual norm and not "gay" and therefore not subjected to ridicule. Of course, that is just my opinion.
Edit: I think we are beginning to revisit the Aramor Kiss thread... and perhaps if this post (or other wrestling-associated posts from the Borat movie) evolves into a discussion, we redirect it there to save the Mods some effort in doing the nitty gritty. Just a thought *L* |

"Well, hmm, alright, you have a point."
I think that was the subtle beauty of the movie. Cohen was able to pick apart various stereotypes and bring out what people would likely not voice,. Even still he seemed to still be able to shock the people watching by abusing cultural norms of people who weren't "punk'd" by him and his camera crew. Obviously, there are some disgusting moments in the movie, but that society reflected. Like or dislike the movie or a particular scene, but appreciate the process that was put into making something that draws that much emotion. I'm sure this movie will serve as one of those trend-setting movies that is often copied, duplicated, spoofed, etc. -- similar to the Matrix. It has become part of culture. |
