| As well as Alien Loves Predator, I like reading The Order Of The Stick. Back when I was a gamer 20-odd years ago, my DM pulled the same stunt as in the pole-arm shop. |

That one was so funny. But he really did that? What a lame ass... tell me, how did it end? Did you finally get a weapon, and not just the... carry thingy for a sword... sortothingamajigwhattheycallitagain? _________________

It's funny, because when I was a kid the overlong pole arm section in Unearthed Arcana was like a running joke with my fellow players and I. I mean seriously: What the hell is a Bohemian Ear Spoon? When I read that OOTS it gave me a good 'ol laugh. _________________

Yes, basically after listing of about half a dozen different exotic polearms and telling us he had nothing in stock, all he had left was a 2x4 which the shopkeeper called something like a glaive-guisarme sans-voulge-bardiche-guisarme-voulge and had the exact same damage dice as a common club. And I think the half-orc actually was duped into shelling over 50gp for it.
But what was even funnier was one of our rogue characters was thinking about buying a whip. So he asks the shopkeeper how it compares in damage with other weapons. The shopkeeper replies "well, why not you decide...?" and promptly starts to whip the character asking and almost kills him! Freaking hilarious. |

back when I was a college student, I spent most of my life in front of a computer with high-speed internet access and thus had lots of time to read webcomics. the list ran thus: Ozzy and Milly, Megatokyo, User Friendly, Mac Hall, Penny Arcade, 8 Bit Theater, Sexy Losers/Thin H Line, and eventually grew to include Something Positive and Queen of Wands.
Now I work full time and do things like commute and sleep a lot more than I used to, so the list has been abbreviated.
Something Positive
ALP (found by ad on SP)
Penny Arcade
The Adventures of Chibithulhu (but only because I write the thing)
I still read paper comics. I stopped for a bit when I moved because I live in the boonies with no good comic shops, but, unsuprisingly, there are places online that will ship comics to me on a monthly basis. so now:
Hellblazer, Desolation Jones, Fell. I've also read every blasted Sandman thing Neil Gaiman will let DC/Vertigo affix his name to, any DC/Vertigo graphic novel about an author I like (which is to say their Lovecraft pseudo-biography, and i will read the Poe one when I have money to order it), aannnd... umm... that's it, for now. I used to read every Jhonen Vaaquez thing I could get my hands on, but after flipping through Everything Can Be Beaten in a comic shop, I became disinterested in his stuff. Roman Dirge's Lenore books are nice, too. _________________ Morose, Ye Liveliest of Awfulnesses

Mmyeah. I read through your archives some two-to-fuck months ago. For some strange reason, it just didn't appeal to me

Penny Arcade might go down, this just in from CGW:
Legal bottom-feeder Jack Thompson recently demanded the arrest of staffers working for the popular Penny Arcade website after they made a charitable donation in Thompson's name, claiming he welshed on a promise to make said donation himself if anyone created software sentered on targeting professionals in the videogame industry. Google "Zork Thompson" for an old-school text adventure created in Thompson's honor. _________________
