Ofcourse that's a Fallout reference... Dogmeat is Fallout, without Dogmeat Fallout would just be a Dogmeat-less Fallout.
I think btw that Dogmeat is a reference to the dog from one of the guy's who made it. They were first gonna call it Dogshit btw.
