Did anyone ever play the arcade game?
http://gngseries.retrogames.com/avp/avpmain.htm
It was like final fight style game made by capcom. If the movie followed this games storyline it would've kicked ass. Aliens basically took over LA. You had to wade through hundreds of aliens and they had cool specialized alien designs for the bosses. Even arnold's character returned with a cyborg arm machine gun.
I have the ROM if anyone wants it. _________________ "You have to quote from books to look clever. You can't quote from films. If you quote from films you just look like a geek." |

Its hard to explain.
Its a thing called an emulator that lets you play games from old systems on your computer. Basically its pretending to be an NES or in this case a Arcade machine hardware. Its called MAME (multiple machine arcade emulator) Google it and there are pages with exact instrcutions how to set it up. _________________ "You have to quote from books to look clever. And the illegality of such actions, you just ignore, I assume?
As much as I know I'm going to be criticized for being condescending and moralistic, I had to say something. _________________ Grrrr...RAAAAARRRGHHH!!!

I dunno, these things have gotten to be so common these days, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people didnt' know it was illegal. I mean, a lot of people don't even realize that Kazaa-ing music is illegal. _________________

If you ever tried setting up MAME on your own you'd figure out the legality of it real quick. ROMs are rarely even posted publicly online.
That's why i didn't say, "oh i'll just mail you the whole setup" _________________ "You have to quote from books to look clever. You can't quote from films. If you quote from films you just look like a geek." |

If it is the game I'm thinking of, where you can be either a girl, dutch, or 2 other predators, then the game is on super nintendo, I was interested in buying it, but then discovered it's 30$ for a game I have never played and I'm broke, so never mind buying that game. _________________ Cogito Ergo Sum....Bitch.

As far as i know, and every fan site out there on the game, it was never ported to any home system.
there were other games called AVP, but this one was never ported. the snes might not even have been powerful enough to run it. It could barely run street fighter II. Probably needed at least Saturn hardware. _________________ "You have to quote from books to look clever. You can't quote from films. If you quote from films you just look like a geek." |

I know that there was an AvP "Double Dragon"-style game released on the SNES, but I think it was different in that you couldn't choose the humans to play as. _________________

Erm, there was an entire website at the top of this discussion showing what the game looked like....
Anyway, I was just playing another game that was similar game play called Armored Warriors http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=A&game_id=6927 Its the same robots used in Cyberbots fighting game.
I still prefer the combos available in AVP better. The chains i could pull off in the arcades almost looked like MvC2. crazy.. _________________ "You have to quote from books to look clever. You can't quote from films. If you quote from films you just look like a geek." |

I LOVED THAT GAME!!!! (and I still do)
On another computer in my old home, I had the game running, (via the ROM and stuff)
To get I had to get several things...
-Romcenter
-FBA (Final Burn Alpha...[Emulator])
-avsp.zip ROM
There may be easier ways to play it, one emu. program that is pretty big is called MAME, (it was too confusing for me...) there are all kinds out there...
Right now I'm mad because I have all that I need on my current computer that's required to play it except....THE ROM ITSELF!!!
(apparently the site I got the first rom off of shut down or sumthin')
GRRRRR!
Any Ideas? _________________ -"And then...She beat Jimmy with his own skull..."
