1. Snatch- I've seen it over 20 times, and it keeps getting better. And if you think that's obsessive, I've got a younger cousin who's seen Scarface upwards of 150 times, at last count.
2. Parenthood- I almost went with Dumb and Dumber, but for once in my life I thought I'd take the cultural high road. Or at least the relative high road, since I don't think a movie that involves oral sex in the car can truly be considered high class.
3. Platoon- I just saw it yesterday, but I think that one will stay in this spot for quite some time. Why can't Ollie Stone do it right anymore?
4. Commando- 81 onscreen deaths. And an endless slew of hilarious one-liners. Besides, since when has a skilled thespian like Der Ahnuld ever steered you wrong?
6. The Incredibles- Jason Lee is hilarious. I doubt he could have been as good at pro skateboarding as he is at acting.
8. Showgirls- For being the very worst movie Hollywood ever conceived. Not the worst movie ever, though. That would be [link=http://movies.tvrealm.com/article.php?id=36]this[/link]. And yes, that's a shameless plug for the movies section of a site I work for. And if it weren't long defunct, I might actually bug you to go there.

1. The Crow - it was all things good. And I can't stop looking for the Brandon Lee action figures/statues.
2. The Cable Guy - That's the first thing that comes to mind.
3. Gattaca - not only was it a little love story, but they had cars that sound like electric buzz bots.
4. The Matrix - not only an action movie, but a mind hump.
5. I see crazy people.
6. Monsters, Inc. - screwed the juices here.
7/8. Blank. Though for a time it looked like Sherilyn Fenn was a goer.

The Fisher King - that castle where the Holy Grail was was my high school, on the Upper East Side
Do the Right Thing
6. Animated
All the Pixar movies, in this order: Toy Story, Toy Story II, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo. All of these movies are in my Top 25 of all time.
8. Erotic thriller not starring Shannon Tweed
Basic Instinct - saw it at college with my freshman year girlfriend who - no joke - liked to use an ice pick to make ice. |

1. Overall - Annie Hall
2. Comedy - Hmm. Most "comedies" I like are either "dramadies" or "black comedies." Office Space is definitely one I can watch 90 times and it'll always be funny. Dr. Strangelove has to be mentioned. I'm sure I'm forgetting lots here.
3. Drama - Lawrence of Arabia, The Godfather
4. Action - Drunken Master II and Aliens are good nominations... I'll throw in The Empire Strikes Back, Face/Off and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
5. New York - Manhattan shows off the city best; Do the Right Thing probably understands it best. RIP Ossie Davis.
6. Animated - I'd have to say the best superhero movie ever, The Incredibles.
7. Erotic thriller starring Shannon Tweed - They have titles?
8. Erotic thriller not starring Shannon Tweed - Poison Ivy: The Neil Sedaka |

1. Overall - Oh boy, this is hard...Depending on the day, either Jacob's Ladder or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. That only makes me look slightly schizophrenic, right?
2. Comedy - Probably Young Frankenstein, but I have a major soft spot for Real Genius. What a pleasure to see g/t folks having a sense of humor rather than serving as the butt of a 90-minute joke. And some seriously funny lines go whizzing by along the way.
3. Drama - The Godfather 1 and 2. One of my great movie pleasures is watching these with someone who hasn't seen them before; unfortunately, cable has stolen that pleasure away almost entirely.
4. Action - Seven Samurai, not that it wouldn't fit in half a dozen other categories, and perhaps better. Hewing a bit closer to the category, They Live.

5. New York-Being John Malkovich, Death Wish
6. Animated- Cowboy Beebop, Ghost in the Shell
7. Not of this World- Ewoks: The Battle for Endor

1. Overall - Schindler's List. By far the most powerful movie I have ever seen. Nothing else comes close.
2. Comedy - Airplane. Led to a lot of spoof movies being made.
3. Drama - Goodfellas, if only because I think I'm one of five people left who has not seen The Godfather from start to finish at one sitting.
4. Action - Just see Dean's list. I would add either of the Spiderman movies.
5. New York - When Harry Met Sally is a fun choice, although The Fisher King captures the whole NY spirit better.
6. Animated - Computer animation I'd say Toy Story. For regular animation, Aladdin because of Robin Williams.
7. Erotic thriller starring Shannon Tweed - Indecent Behavior, if only because Freddy "Boom Boom" Washington was also in the movie.
8. Erotic thriller not starring Shannon Tweed - Poison Ivy 3 - The New Seduction. Jamie Pressley at her best.
I'll throw one more category - Sports Movies. Comedywise, it's Caddyshack. Dramawise, Field of Dreams. |

Bull Durham and Field of Dreams are up there, but the schmaltzy factor of Field of Dreams give it the nod for me.

Maybe Roxorfuror meant magma.
I'm not sure where these two movies go in terms of categories, but Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Pleasantville are among my favorites (semi-animation and fantasy/sci-fi?). I guess I'd include Back to the Future for fantasy/sci-fi. |

OK, I've been meaning to do this for a while but have been far too busy. A lot of these movies could have gone in more than one category, but I tried to find a place for each. No doubt I'm forgetting something vital.
1. Overall: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King narrowly beating out Trainspotting. Honorable mentions to the original Star Wars trilogy and the other LOTR films.
2. Comedy: The Big Lebowski (and Fargo, and Barton Fink...), Spinal Tap, Real Genius, and Clueless.
3. Drama: The English Patient.
4. Action: X-2, The Matrix, and Iron Monkey.
5. New York: The Royal Tenenbaums.
6. Animated: I want to pick some Japanese thing from my (very) early childhood, like Star Blazers. If you won't let me do that, then how about South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
7. Erotic Thriller Starring Shannon Tweed: um?
8. Erotic Thriller not starring Shannon Tweed: Career Opportunities. Or maybe "Jennie Garth's Body In Progress."
9. Sports Movie: Faith Rewarded - The Historic Season of the 2004 Boston Red Sox or if you prefer, Bull Durham. |
