Anyone play any good NEW Real-Time-Strategy games lately? I haven't bought any new games since WarCraft 3:The Frozen Throne... and I'm getting bored of it. TFT's a great game and all, but I find that it just doesn't have the staying power of other RTS games to which I've been massively addicted (StarCraft, Total Annihilation, C&C, C&C:Red Alert, AoE2). _________________ The official MILF-masta of the AlP forums.

C&C Generals is an ok rts. Rise of Nations is aight but i still prefer the classic over these new ones. Starcraft and Warcraft set my gaming standards pretty damn high so most RTS's suck (from my point of view). _________________

I havent seen anything since Sarcraft & Red Alert that I have wanted to try. Warcraft is very cool, but beyond the abilities of my old laptop.
I have seen some new historical rts games in the store. At work we hosted a demo for Vivendi Universal for a bunch of games including a Roman era rts game that look great on the box, but was pretty lousy on my laptop. Without an amazing amount of ram, like a gig, and the most expensive nvidia graphics acccelerator card available, some the new rts games just suck. _________________ "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

I am almost tempted to get Dragonshard, the new D&D rts that (I think) will be out soon. I prolly won't though, as the last game I bought was Doom3, and I only play AvP2. _________________ Context is everything. |

I heard that Rome: Total War was good, but the demo didn't run too well on my computer. I like Rise of Nations best so far, as the gameplay is surprisingly refreshing given the superficial resemblance to the Age of Empires games. _________________ Grrrr...RAAAAARRRGHHH!!!

I've heard that Age of Mythology and the Star Wars rts game by the same company are pretty cool. I haven't played either myself tho, so don't take my word for it. _________________ "SUPERMAN HATES MILK WITH THE FIERY INTENSITY OF A THOUSAND SUNS!"

This was the rts that I installed the demo computers for and had the same problem when I put it on my laptop. The minimum stated operating requirements on these games are misleading. The machines we brought in for the demo's were custom built gaming machines from Vernon technology solutions in Stamford CT. They had to purchase and fed-ex the n-vidia cards diectly from the manufacturer for this install, and each machine required a gig of ram. _________________ "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

My boyfriend plays Starcraft a lot but recently his brother got him into this game called Kohan. I'm not sure if it's any good, but it's probably worth a look. |
