I just saw a trailer for a remake of John Carpenter's movie. Who allowed this? _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Aaaah but it's not a remake! It's a prequel!
Yeah I'm not fooled either. _________________

I'm not so attracted to the movie either (other than the fact that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in this), but I think it's unfair to attribute the use of CGI as the reason why it failed.
I haven't seen it, so maybe its use was bad in this case, but CGI in a movie does not mean it's going to be horrible - I've even heard people complain about films like Rise of the Planet of the Apes and District 9 (the apes look like a video game/the prauns are so unrealistic, etc...). Really? |

CG is often used a crutch to prop up poor film-making however. See: Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. _________________

I heard it wasn't very good. It didn't need a prequel. And they called it "The Thing" because, what else could they call it? It's about "The Thing." _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

Meh. I heard someone may be remaking Scarface which I find a bigger travesty. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

I think it's getting kinda old to fuss about remakes, seeing as they're doing remakes of everything lately.
Not that I'm implying we shouldn't bitch about them when they suck though... _________________
