There was an age when I would visit the aLp forum multiple times a day. Accordingly, it made sense that I should be a moderator. These days...I check in once a week, if that. My life is just too busy. Therefore, I really think that I should pass on the mod mantle.

I will say that I had a lot of fun times here on aLp, as well as much mindless tedium (e. g., deleting spam accounts manually). I'll probably still be around, but I won't check in nearly as often as I used to. So let's be about the business of selecting a new moderator!

The Rules
We'll begin with open nominations. Just post the name of someone (possibly yourself) whom you would like to be a moderator. All nominations must be seconded to count.

After a week, I will add a poll to this topic with the names of all those individuals who have been nominated and seconded, and you will have another week to vote. In the event of a tie, we will have a run-off vote.

Well, of course I'll pop by every now and then probably to tell the new mods that that's not how we did it in my days, young man! (Kidding) So it's not really goodbye. But with my heavy teaching duties and other things going on, I think this really is a good moment to pass it on. I suggest you pick a European & someone from the Americas, just as it is now, but that's just me trying to rule beyond the grave, as we say in Dutch, so ignore me if you want to.

I'll say something more inspired on the day the new ones will be i stalled.

as for Simon's nominees, i agree of course, BUT i actually would like to nominate Simon himself. i know his decency will make him say he's not the right person for it, but that's exactly what makes him the right person for it.

Gosh, the end of an era! I hope you guys don't completely disappear from the community, you'd be sadly missed.

I'd like to second Sal's nomination of Simon. Also, I think the thieving Polack himself would do a good job. So would Ipsa. How many nominations am I allowed? Smile
