Though I have yet to complete ME 2 (I'm about to attempt the "suicide mission" -- can I tell you, I spent a couple of extra hours trying to get that Turin cannon and for what? I still have to control stupid Joker in that stupid sequence... *sigh* I haven't been able to play the game since), but bought FF XIII for the PS3. Perhaps, I will see what Bloo sees in this game. If I remember correctly, he is a big fan of the series. I've never played it, but figured I should, if only to see the graphics and the story. Picked it up as a PS3 since the hard-drive is bigger than my xbox 360s and am looking forward to playing... in 2 weeks. A little too busy at the moment to get sucked it. Any one play it yet? Should I have gotten that Heavy Rain (or whatever it is called on the PS3) instead? _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

You should have gotten Psychonauts instead. _________________

Well, yeah, but it really depends on which of the games in the series you're talking about because they literally have nothing to do with each other, maybe other than having chocobos and moogles in them. And a Cid. |

FF13 is pretty disappointing, IMO.
Square hyped it up a bit too much. |

I saw some videos of it. Apparently they've done away with the semi-realtime battle system from 12. I guess Square was worried about players finding 13 actually playable and fun.
Good save, guys. It's not Final Fantasy unless it makes me want to hurt myself. _________________ bitchez n hose |

Can't really comment on the "hype" or comparison. I'm hoping for a good 'ole RPG, but I gather this is more of a JRPG. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

I enjoyed the post-Square Soft Final Fantasies, but I'm one of those farts who thinks the series almost died at 6 and that the last truly good one was 9 (or 10).
Yeah I know those are getting really old, especially since I don't even have to link to a trope like that because it's probably one of the more common ones. |

I'm in the process of replaying 8, I really liked all the games, even X-2.

I really liked 8. Don't have anything like the time required to play games like that anymore though. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

^The one thing I hate is when the people who praise 7 hate every other game (especially .
Edit: That was supposed to be an 8 and a parenthesis. I could have just edited that, but it's more fun this way. |

| The problem (IMHO) with 7 is that every gamer ever knows it and loves it (generalizations FTW) but refuses to play most RPG's and get into them enough to like each one as a stand alone concept as opposed to a part of the series. Even with a completely unconnected series like Final Fantasy, where almost every installment "introduces" a different battle control system, or magic/ability system. |

Sure it's great, but it's not the best thing ever. The main reason I think that whole 7 situation is ridiculous is mostly because of its fanbase as of today, probably half of which haven't even played the original game and are only in love with its Kingdom Hearts-ified characters like the Advent Children Sephiroth, and maybe Kadaj and his Mother bullshit. (Actually, now that I think about it, since 7 is available for download on the PS Network, they'll get a chance to play it and blindly love it.)
I don't know. Maybe that's why I'm not as in love with the series as I used to be. Didn't mean to turn this thread into an anti-FF7 fanbase thread, either. It just always seems to eventually happen with me in these conversations. |

Your opinions are valid and well put together, can't fault you for how you feel about it. I understand what you mean about the fan base for 7, my little brother runs with guys and gals like that.
EDIT - Perfect example of what I was talking about earlier, the new crap they put into each game. |

Enix thinks it's cool, like all the shiny teenage pretty boys they put into their games (Cloud? Even Lightning, because she's practically Cloud with a vagina and a smaller sword), and the impractical stuff that just shouldn't exist.
Other than that, I'm actually surprised this isn't the so-called disappointing shit I heard it was going to be. It's really enjoyable so far, especially because it feels like it takes a few elements from the past few games and rolls it into something that just works. |
