I think if they relax a bit on the story, it won't really matter who's directing. That was my real problem with the first movie; the idea that Predators created civilization as we know it and basically anything involving the humans was boring.

Personally I'd like to see an AvP movie take place further in the future, more in the realm of the Alien movies. It would be a nice consolation prize since we will likely never see the AvP3 pc game.

Personally, I'm happy to hear it. Hopefully Anderson as well as Fox Studios learned enough from the last one to make improvements. For instance, let's have an R rating this time, hmm? And more of the action implied in the title, Predators fighting Aliens. I thought there was a decent amount in AVP, but too much time spent on story when really we just want carnage. Let's not be pretentious about that. Y'all know I liked the first one, but there's definitely things I'd change if I could.

i personally liked the first movie, yeah i would have liked to see more action, and maybe the 3 preds at least live to about 3/4 of the movie ... but you can't expect much of hollywood when it comes to these fanboy francises now can we ... oh yeah and bring on avp3 the pc game

I really liked the first movie but that aside... it would be awesome if we saw some massive Alien vs Predator figting... the first movie was indeed mostly Alien versus humans helped by Predators... but it still rocked...
Let's just hope that in this case the rule that the second movie is better than the first movie applies.

I thought the rule was that the second Video game is better, and the second movie is worse?

All in all, I don't see why they don't just take the story from the video games, but maybe that's just me. Reading the article it seems that they're going to have it set in the city, A la Predator 2. Personally, I'd rather see it set on the Alien homeworld. Keep the predators and humans apart, instead of going the buddy movie angle, but that's probably just me.

well, i hope to see more blood, more actual alien and predator fights, unfeatured weapons (eg. plasma pistol), and it doesn't hurt to show the Praetorians or Predaliens for now, right? Wink

I think we can all agree that the greater majority of those movies aren't as good as the original. And more importantly, the greater majority of sequels in general, even if they are good, aren't as good as the original.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse? Ninja Turtles 2 (Go Ninja Go Ninja Go!)? All those cheapass Disney sequels? I already see a difference of opinion on Chronicles of Riddick (not a bad movie, just not as good as Pitch Black). Mortal Kombat: Annihilation? And Tomb Raider wasn't a good movie to begin with, and the second one didn't improve things any. Matrix: Reloaded (Personally, I liked it, but I won't hesitate to say it is far inferior to the original).

As much as I loved Pitch Black, I felt 'The Chronicles of Riddick' (especially the director's cut DVD) was better.
That said, the video game "Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay" is better than both, in my opinion. Wink

Also, I liked both Tomb Raider movies, and I liked the second one more.
