I am definitely not going to. I resent what's been done to the franchise in the name of a quick buck. The trailer's irritating and obviously only a grab for more cash.

I have yet to see the third movie...
It's been on my harddrive for over a year now, that's how interested I am. _________________ Back in action |

I have absolutely no emotional attachment one way or the other. It looks like a cheap cash grab: more merchandise, more toys, more fast-food tie-ins, more fucking money for that greedy asshole George Lucas.
Really, is another Star Wars movie necessary? Really? _________________ "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."

Seems they're shamelessly cloning the franchise as well, reaping the same cash rewards as from the originals. _________________ Back in action |

How will you know it's going to be shitty? Well, the way I see it, for money or not, George Lucas is still pleasing at least half of the fans by still keeping Star Wars alive. I'd be upset if it was totally over.
Also it's not like The Clone Wars is an out of the blue Star Wars installment, it's the pilot for the new series they had running back in '05. That cartoon proved to be quite popular and many fans wanted more, now it's coming back.
This has not changed my views by the way, and as a fan, I will go see the new film. _________________ Only the strongest will survive.

that Clone Wars cartoon from '05 was excellent, especially the second season which was almost a regular movie in itself with its own continuity and a really good plot. it was better than the actual Epi 3 and i say it with conviction.
(and both Grievous and Anakin were infinitely more badass in the cartoon than in the movie.) _________________ i have no time for anal love

I liked the Clone Wars microseries, but only because it was made by the same folks who created Samurai Jack. The Star Wars universe in that style was damned cool.
This CGI animated bullshit, from what I've seen of the commercials, looks ridiculous. _________________ "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."

Yes, but you know what? I'm gonna leave that theater smiling like a fool like I did for all the movies. Know why? Because I love Star Wars.
The movie probably isn't going to change lives or earn awards, but it doesn't matter because it doesn't have to.
I can definitely see your point and agree with it, however, but I'm sure it will not be shitty. It'll probably be similar quality to what we expect from Star Wars media.
If it stays true to itself, the fans will like it and it will be a success. _________________ You forget one thing: rock crushes scissors. But paper covers rock... and

Cpt. Obvious... Hmmm, that's almost as good as a bad guy's name as General Grievous...

I saw it. I have alot of mixed feelings for it, it was stylized, so don't expect the same Star Wars flare to it, not bad but different.
On the plus-side, there are many recognizable faces and most of their roles were played acceptably (except Greivous[needed more screen time, and at least a line]), the action was still quite stunning in the same way the original cartoon series was, and it was just simply fun. And no Jar Jar.
On the negative-side, it is obnoxiously campified, nearly shattering the dark nature Episode III held, our new Jedi Padawan is rather annoying (at least to me), I didn't expect a brilliant story, but this one seemed like a very stretched episode the series could have had in the future. And one thing that really annoyed the hell out of me... Spoiler: | THEY REPLACED THE OPENING CRAWL WITH A VOICE OVER |
Although it is "rough around the edges", it was still just fun to watch. Now that I have seen it, I can safely say that this is not quite continuing the legacy of the films, just a new dimension to Star Wars. I thought the soundtrack had some good scores, but some even seemed like they came from 300. This movie did not really add any more character-depth, but it is a pilot for the soon-to-return series.
If you liked the Clone Wars cartoon series, I'm sure you will enjoy it. If you are a 'Star Wars Templar' that is easily offended by the taint of shallow expansion *cough cough*, then do please avoid this.
I give The Clone Wars a 7 out of 10. I do look forward to watching the Return of the Series

Why is Jar Jar hated so much? I liked him the first few minutes.
What the hell even happened to him?
Anyway, I was thinking of watching this until a few hours ago where I just didn't feel like it. Just because It's Starwars doesn't mean it'll be awesome, but then again I heard it was a great movie if you liked the cartoon. |
