Recently I read an article about Canada's multiculturalism laws. Being a Canadian myself, I was, not surprisingly, very interested. I won't go over every detail, but the basic idea of it was that "anyone who opposed the multiculturalism laws was immediately branded a racist, and any person who opposed the laws who was of a minority was called a 'traitor', or 'sell-out'."

Now, I'm not a racist. Let's get that straight. I just don't believe that making a law forcing everyone to accept each other is fair. If someone has an opinion that is controversial in the eyes of some people, well, that's a shame. But you can't really change their opinion. Only they can do that. And if someone tries to force them to do what they say, they're likely to become even more defensive of their opinion.
Giving people reasons why they may be mistaken and bludgeoning them over the head repeatedly with "RACISM IS BAD" are two very different things.

A little more details on the specifics of above laws(s)... Not sure what is meant by the labels you mention. Are they sentenced to prision? Or do they sew a scarlett "R" on their overcoats if labeled a racist?
