Much like Hexic, I'm finding this Xbox Live Arcade game pleasantly addicting. I believe it is an adaptation of a Russian board game.

Is it based on "The Settlers of Catan"? _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

I believe it is. My wife kept saying: "This is just like Settlers". I'm not familiar with enough with the game to know Settlers, but basically you build roads, trade, etc. It's the closest game to Intellivision's Utopia that I have seen.

I don't know anything about the video game, but it's an absolutely fantastic board game. Still widely available, as far as I know... _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

I think we are talking about the same thing. It is very fun as a video game and I find the music pretty soothing. *L*

Somebody buy me a fucking Xbox then.
Might actually be fun though. It's been ages since I last played me some proper SoC.

It is fun, but I hate "Elizabeth" -- she keeps buying those damn cards and winning while I'm at 9 points!! It's kind od interesting -- the AI opponents are people from history -- Sun Tzu is a push-over *L*

Also, I thought Settlers of Catan was a German game? _________________

Yeah, I know it's a running joke among Catan players, but the first place I actually saw it in print was KODT. _________________

This game is freakin' addicting. Both the wife and I can't stop playing. I haven't gotten an Xbox Live account yet, does anyone here play it on the 360?

I like to play with modified rules. Do you make a bad deal by basically giving me wheat and uranium, or do you go for a better deal from the other player and risk having your fields littered with anti-personnel mines and your capital showered with artillery fire?

And a nice way to get rid of all the damn German cars when they totally overrun our parking spots... _________________

That brings in mind an idea.
I'll have to get into a proper gaming group sometime. I'll force upon them what I remember of the Battlefield: Catan edition me and a friend came up with, and get them to help me integrate, in the rules one, of the few actually fun things about Civ Call To Power: silly non-hostile ways to fuck with opponents.
Flood of ugly german cars filling car parks will definately be one. It'll raise discontent among the populace and increase the propability of rioting.
Then there'll be televangelists, of course. Poorly made taiwanese products, maybe. Oh! Dumbed down Hollywood movies that, while raising morale a bit, will make the population dumber in a certain area, making it easier to sneak in with spies and maybe raise cash for the 'attacker' a little.
Can't get too complicated with those, though, because it'll take attention away from conventional warfare too much. _________________ bitchez n hose |

Doesn't really need to be ugly german cars. Actually, big german cars is even better. Like 50 Mercedes cars parked in 75 parking lots... _________________

True...
Ooh, I got a nice non-hostile way to fuck with the opponent: George Bush visits. Nobody in the country actually wants him there, thus disgruntling your inhabitants but they're still all going so nobody is working that day...
Or something like that. _________________

Out of? On a vaguely related note, I'm thinking of getting a bunch of Arcade games (Bomberman, Worms, Catan) because the bullet latency on Gears makes me irate. _________________
