Where did the information about black colour being caused by brusing come from? That seems odd. Black pigmentation in most animals is caused by...surprise surprise, black pigments like melanin, not oxidized blood, anyway.
Is there an official backstory/canon for the more tech-y stuff in the Alien series? If someone could point me to a website I'd be grateful.

/disagree. Aliens live only for a few months at a time and they turn black because they ARE being bruised from growing to a full sized drone within hours of bursting from their first victims chest. Anyone who was lame enough (like me) to go and memorize every special features disc in the Quadrilogy collection would have known this.

how eill you exølain the queen then? 
in AVP the queen has been there for MANY years... probably thousands....
AND
heres an example off evolutoin:
white birds lives in a snowy mountan; then the global heating came...
because the snow melted, the birds would have to "evlove" to another feather collor to stay alive (and to not be eaten by some predator ANIMAL)
another example: (and im not a racist)
africans (originaly) lived/live in a hot and sunny envoroment...
therfore theyr skin is darker to portect them....
its the total opposit whith the "whites" (oh i hate that word...)

Don't they turn black because after chestbursters burst the chest and hide don't they cocoon themselves to create a full grown alien? Maybe because of the cocoon fluids? Get my drift?
