Avatar issue

I am having trouble with my avatar now. The size restrictions are befuddling me.

The 10k size means I have to make the image so small that it's not recognizable. How does one get something that's 80 x 80 pixels to be smaller than 10K?

Had the same problem a while back. I couldn't get anything to work when I tried uploading from my computer. I uploaded an image to photobucket, saved it as an avatar and used the third option in the Profile -- offsite, internet.

Upload your picture to something like photobucket and link to it from your profile menu.

Or upload it to a personal ftp, which is like way better...

I've tried linking it to my personal server but I get weird error codes.
