Just started Half-Life 2

I know that 1) this is an egocentric topic and 2) Half-Life 2 is ancient by now, but I don't care, it's my forum. I just picked HL2 up (after taking 2 years to finish Doom 3), and holy goddamn hell is it a good game. I'm also psyched that my 2.5-year-old machine runs it great, even with anti-aliasing on - credit to the Source engine.

I'm still early on - when the hell do I have time to play computer games? - so I know I haven't even seen anything yet. I just wanted to make this announcement. You all have permission to mock me for just getting around to starting this game that everyone's grandmother's already finished.

Oh and don't spoil anything for me or I swear I will kill you.

Bernie, just a firendly tip: look for the G-man. He should pop up quite a few times in your travels.

Also, aim for the head.

The following suggestion is intended for if you're having troubles getting around the area where you first get the revolver.
Spoiler:

When you go into the room, kill the two metropols, and get out, there should be a garbage can to your right. Plant a couple boxes and you can jump over the opposite fence. Push the boxes up the ramp (it will take a while, they don't like going up) and you can make a staircase to get over that fence. Jump over, and you've bipassed the helicopter, a dozen metropols, and a few useless goodies. Just jump into the water when you're done.

I've wanted that game ever since it came out but unfortunatly my computers crap. Getting a new one in a few months thougfh so hopefully i'll get round to playing it then.

I have a pretty decent computer, and I tried playing on max settings but all I can see are weird colored blocks rotating where smoke should be. So I play at the lowest resolution, in a window (instead of full screen) and it runs well. And yes, like Simon_Says said, aim for the head.

Heres a tip. the pistol is actually a pretty good fall-back gun. It holds alot of ammo, and aiming for the head will kill most enemies very fast. Don't be afraid to use it when you have to reload your SMG or .357 or whatever your using, it can save your life.

I forget if I forgot to take my ritalin or if im off my meds, either way im excited about band camp just as much as you, lenny, or Jesus over there!

I have this game for my Xbox, its got great graphics and nice guns, I do get annoyed by the headcrabs.

I still hate fps's on consoles.

Consoles, however, do own for platform games, racing games and fighting games.

I will always prefer my fps, RTS and rpg's on the pc, although the classic rpg's are still best on consoles.

It's just that new rpg's have so many functions, they're better off on a pc.
