Thank you for pointing that out to the guys InvaderJess! Now it wouldnt be very logical if preds are born out of eggs because its hostile in there society, and other clans could just step in, crush the eggs without anyone knowing, and walk out. And they sound too much like aliens if they were born from eggs-gross Confused

Evolution won't neccesarily follow the social climate of a species.

So what the Preds can walk in and crush the eggs, the Preds may still lay eggs. It's a disadvantage yes but so is the human instinct to eat anyhting they can get thier hands on. It's a disadvantage and unneccesary to the species (at least in first-world countries) but we still have it.

Anyway, I think that Preds deliver live babies isntead of eggs, but not exactly like humans or something... either that, or they're like "mmkay *divide*" X3

Evolution is not about being 'better' than anyhting else. Are we better than whales? In some aspects no and some aspects yes.

Placental birth is more advanced than laying eggs, but it does have disadvantages. Offspring born alive and kicking from thier mommy are generally better developed, larger, etc. but the burdens on the parent increase drastically.

You don't see pregnant mothers running in the olympics for example. Eggs can be stowed away and hidden (an advantage, so the mother can be in top physical form while protecting the eggs, as well as giving the offspring a chance at life should the mother die). Egg-laying organisms can produce more offspring than placental mammals, as eggs are generally smaller than toddlers. Mothers laying eggs may not be as prone to infection as placental mothers are.

Placental birth relies more on the strategy of "a few offspring almost guarenteed to survive" whearas egg birth relies on "multiple babies and hopefully some of them will survive to grow up."

you guys and girls are funny when you get into an argument. Oh and to the original post topic they are deffinatly born like humans. There is no other way for an "animal" that runs in that body type to have young. Just look at the big animal books or watch discovery. Unless they are like the platapuss and do it that way but the odds of that are very unlikely.

I have a question...Umm...how did the Alien embryo get into the facehugger if they're different species? Maybe inside the eggs as the facehugger is growing the alien is inside there also as a parasite waiting for its chance to get inside the hugger and control its fate. Or maybe its a sacrificial thing with the creatures dying after sex. Kind of like the mantis or even black widow spiders cause the male usually die after mating with the female...(and yes I do know that the female usually kills them)
