If the Aliens were all white, would the predators still hunt them?

The original Predator had no problem hunting Ahnold.

I think I'm a little confused as to where you got this idea from but as far as I'm concerned there was no racism whatsoever in the movie. Confused

Preds don't care. Black, white, red, yellow, doen't matter. As long as they can attack, preds will hunt them. (It's not like preds even see color anyway) There is no racism is these movies. If there was, I wouldn't like them.

Yeah, a while ago I was thinking about seeing like a Pred... at first it seemd really cool, but then I realized that watching tv would be really boring... you'd just see a large red area... bummer!

What's the point in this poll. They probably would still hunt them because they are "the ulitimate prey", not just because of their colour, and besides, the preds' are colour-blind.
This forum is racist.

I was just watching Predator last night, and I can't help but think that the yautja can't see very well. Like you said, it's a red blotch, so how could they create technology or even operate it with such lousy vision? It's like they're looking at everything through cherry Kool-aid.

Simple. The predators' eyes are sensitive to a different range of the EM spectrum than are those of humans. It seems pretty safe to infer that the ambient light on the preds' home world is comprised of wavelengths from a portion of the spectrum that is uncommon on earth. It's no accident that our eyes developed to see with the ambient light on this planet, just as the preds' eyes developed according to their own light.

Now here is the thing that I don't get. In Predator 2 the pred is able to see in the infrared range even after he removes his mask. What gives? My working theory is that the movie just blows.

That makes sense. I hadn't thought of it. It would make lots of sense then to have infared vision, since other planets' light would make it hard for them to see.

I'll go with that.

I never saw Predator 2, I just know that the DVD has more features than that of the first Predator film.

The prevailing theory among the hopelessly scholarly concerning Predator 2 is that the infrared effect was residual after he took off the mask. Perhaps as a younger Predator, his eyesight is more acute and more perceptive than the one in the first movie.

Or, yeah, it could just suck.

And using infrared is even more useful because things with a temperature near that of a human body radiate in the infrared range, so a pred could see its prey in an absence of ambient light (i. e., in the dark). Smile

Yea but if the creature is coldblooded, or covered in mud, like Shwaty(Ahrnold) was in the first film. It would reneder the predator almost incapable of finding it's prey. Im not saying that your theory is wrong, im just saying taht no eyesight is perfect

Having a warm blooded metabolism requires more energy and nutrient requirments than having a coldblooded metabolism.

Seeing from what the predator is capable of, and does normally, the preds would love high-energy food.

Because if a warmblooded organism requires better nutrition, the warmblooded organism would yeild better nutrition to the Predator, and thus sensing the heat around organisms would be helpful in tracking good prey.

Well that's one theory at least.

Simon, the preds don't EAT the humans. Shocked

And Rus, if you remember Predator 2, the preds can adjust the settings to see in other areas of the spectrum as well to deal with that problem.

So you are proposing that they would use special vision modes to hunt for food as well? I suppose that is a possibility, though it does not strictly relate to our discussion of hunting for sport.

Im not saying with the mask on, i know taht they can change views, im taking with the mask off. Cuz in Predator when it took it's mask off it could still see in a kind of infrared vision, so if the target is coldblooded or covered in mud the predator could not see it. Of course the pred would have to be a 'tard not to bring his nask to a hunt.
