So I was in the video store, today, looking for something to watch that would be a good compromise while I'm at my parents house: my parents like light comedy, romantic comedy especially (a genre which I abhor for its disgusting formulaic predictability), while I'm more of a fan of visual eye candy like martial arts and action flicks.
I see this little foreign film from Korea on the shelf called "Save the Green Planet!", and I decided to take a chance on it.
Well, after seeing it, I must say that it was the wrong choice to watch with people who like light comedy. However, it was the most original film I've seen in years.
Occasionally hilarious, usually nightmarish and disturbing, and very frequently surprising, "Save the Green Planet!" is a film that's totally unique in my experience.
Do not watch it if you're looking for light comedy, because while much of it is funny, it's anything but light.

Is the guy on the box golfing with a ufo on the end of his stick?
If I ever find it I'll rent it. _________________

This played at the AFI theatre in my neighborhood maybe two years ago. I saw previews for it and it seemed quite disturbing. Alien conspiracies, torturous kidnappings, and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" at punk rock speeds. And it's korean. Scary. _________________ "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."
