| Did you know that global warming is merely a temporary trend that happens every couple of centuries? Back in the early to mid 1980's scientists all over the world were warning us of an impending ice age due to cooling trends they observed. It will all balance out in the end. Nature abhors a vacuum. |

Then what about the spike in warming trends around the time fo the Industrial Revolution?
I'm talking about a huge increase that hasn't been observed for millenia before, as proven by ice core samples. _________________

The way that we are affecting the carbon cycle is by releasing carbon into the atmosphere that was safely hidden underground for millions of years. I have never heard the over 90%/just a few % numbers, but the "just a few % every year," for all the years that we have been burning fossil fuels, adds up to lots of extra carbon in the environment by 2006.
The real evidence to indicate that global warming is occurring is the average ocean temperature, which is rising at an alarming rate. Within the next decade or so we are going to see Katrina-type hurricanes become a regular occurance.
So we get the double whammy of rising sea levels and more and bigger storms.
One of the ironic things about the current golbal climate change is the way Great Briton is probably going to get colder.
The Gulf Stream is what keeps the British Isles as temperate as they are, and one consequences of the warming oceans is likely to be the stopping of the Gulf Stream. Without those warm waters flowing past, those islands will get colder. So global warming can cause local cooling.

Did you know that the Chicken came first?
According to evolution, the prechicken would lay a prechicken egg, which would hatch a chicken. Only then would the chicken make chicken eggs. _________________

Hell, I wouldnt mind it getting colder, I miss the snow we used to get when I was younger (10 years ago ish). More to the point, I'll be long dead before it becomes a real problem, so who cares; it'll be a job for our grand kids to sort out- hows that for a legacy.
Did you know sneezing can kill you? I read in the paper today some kid died of a brain haemorage just after sneezing. What a bummer..... _________________ People are dying, we need guns! |

Don't you mean egg then? A prechicken, while very chickenlike, is no chicken.
And man.

So, you are going to be dying in the next 10 years?
Or, you don't consider it to be a big problem until the world becomes uninhabitable?
Cause, it's gonna be a BIG problem by 2015.
Now is the time to be buying coastal property about 10 miles inland. _________________

Ha, forget about it.
Make it 2020.
Longer (hopefully) if someone actually does somthing.
Also friendly tip: Buy as much oil as you can right now (I'm tlaking aobut right in the barrel), and hoard it. Time it right and you can sell your stash and become, quite possibly, a billionaire overnight.
But in seriousness, I think there'll be some tough times in the next century, but not the doomsday collapse so many people nowadays envision. People have believed the world was going to end since civilization began.
I think that story has been discussed in the eon8 thread.

Ah but the prechicken laid a prechicken egg, which contained a chicken, which hatched, and eventually laid a chicken egg.
The chicken came before the chicken egg. _________________

The chicken came before the chicken egg. |
The question now becomes:
Is this thread a spambot somehow? Because there is a link in it called "investing stock", which is a non-sequitor. But when I click on it I get the "This page cannot be displayed" error message. And the "investing stock" seems like a spambot gambit.
But it is sooo timely to this discussion that its spambotness seems sooo concidental it would be very creepy to me.
Ah, whatever. _________________

Meh, it's all pretty irrelevant. Evolution is a gradual process. It is rather arbitrary where we draw the line between the modern chicken and its predecessor. But in the larger sense, the organism precedes the gamete, and asexual repoduction precedes sexual reproduction. _________________ Context is everything. |

All you have to do is change it around, and united becomes untied. And vice versa.
