I haven't seen it yet, but I will see it soon.
I have heard it sucks, but I have also heard it rocks.
Doesn't matter, really. If it has Johnny Depp in it, it will be worth seeing either way.

I saw it.
It was good.
Davey Jones still cannot possibly compare to Barbossa.
And there are two scenes I swear the producers decided to stuff in there to fill in the time.
And beasty was overdone.
But the humor is impeccable. Go Jack!

What two scenes? Yes it was slightly overdone.

Never saw the first one, won't see this one. I don't care how good they are. Pirates suck. And pirate movies based off of lame rides at a Disney park won't get my attention.

But, they star Johnny Depp, the greatest actor of his generation, if not the greatest actor currently making movies!

Damn right it was. And it wasn't any better than these two.

But, on to the actual movie of this thread, Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest.
I just got back from seeing it. It was my first time in a movie theater in almost two years. Before the movie started, I was thinking, "I now remember why I don't go to the movies." I was also somewhat concerned with the two-and-a-half-hour running time.
But it was totally worth it. I loved it. I don't remember noticing any of the things reviewers had mentioned as negatives. And I am usually pretty damned picky.
If you haven't gone, go. If you think you don't want to go, change your mind.
Johnny Depp totally rules. And Orlando Bloom just keeps getting better. I am sure I could find some weaknesses if I tried, but nothing jumped out at me.
A farmtastic moovie.

I sincerely admire Johnny Depp's skills. I've seen almost all the movies he's been in (except for that horrible John Waters stuff) and agree that he is one of the finest actors of our time.
I just don't do pirate movies based off of Disney theme park rides. Just...no. |
