Anthony Bourdain is in Cork County making all sorts of (blood pudding?)organ meat and bladders with a chef called Shamus.... forgot the name of the restuarant... and a bar(?) called Hackett? Any good?

Road bowling? Are you kidding me? No wonder your car gets damaged all the time.

Hackett's is down in Schull isn't it? As far as I can remember, it's lovely but, like a lot else down there, it's a wee bit of a tourist trap.

And yes, road bowling still happens all the time out the country. The stretch of road my folks live on is a particularly good spot. You may as well turn the engine off if you happen to be driving through a particularly intense game...

I think they said it might have been Schull. Not sure. Beautiful country. The road bowling game they showed had wagers upward of 5000 euro. I couldn't believe how there was this group of 15 or so following to two bowlers -- every now and again, a car would go past and I was thinking those cars must get hit a bit.

Wow, I didn't realise that much money was changing hands... I don't think there are too many collisions - it's probably considered bad form to bowl right when there's a car going past.

Not sure if the betting was increased for TV's sake, but it kinda sounds like an interesting way to pass some time after work. Are the roads where they bowl one way? It would just suck to be driving right into the ball.

There's no such thing as a one-way road out the country! It would suck, but we're talking little lanes here, you're probably not gonna be going that fast in any case.
