There's levels and levels of canon, you know. Example: the rather excellent Alien books being supplanted by Alien³. Something tells me the AvPvT comic wasn't exactly high-level canon.
There was something else I was going to say, but it got pushed out of my mind by all the random stuff...
Something I'd like to see is Preds hunting on Kasshyyk... but that's beside the point.
(Edit: Oh yes, that was it. The queen specifically stabbed him through the stomach so as not to damage the embryo. (There was even something on the DVD audio commentary about that.) Besides, she's not going to sacrifice her own life for a chestburster... just the drones'...)

This was just one more bogus scene comprising the garbage
that is AVP.....For starters its a cheap rip off of Bishops 'death'
scene in Aliens.....secondly for the alien embryo to reach
birthing phase its hosts biological functions must be operative.
ie the host must be ALIVE...otherwise it may as well be gestating
in a mouldy log of wood.
