Have any of you seen "Night watch"? It's a very good Russian Sci-Fi / Fantasy movie (think Lord of the Ring + Blade). It's been out on DVD for some time, but since Fox bought all American distribution rights, they have mandated to stop making NTSC formatted dvds of it. The disk has been slowly disappearing from even Russian stores in America. And Fox keeps postponing the release, while sequel "Day Watch" is already out in Russia. Ain't US movie studios great
Is anyone interested in talking about Russian Cinema in general?

The ones I've seen are The Return, Ivan The Terrible, Andrei Rublev and The Cranes Are Flying.
Hubby collects Criterion DVDs, so whicever ones he gets his mitts on, I watch.
Out of those four, I think I liked Andrei Rublev the best. I think I may have to rewatch them, since it's been a while... ah, nothing like a movie thread to remind one of nearly forgotten movies. _________________ Capitalization is the difference between "I had to help my uncle Jack off a horse..." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse..." |
