I had started a thread previously callin out for a little love for A-rod, but I think it got lost during the "dark times". Anyway, after another decisive victory, I think the Yankees and A-rod deserve a lil' love. I don't think their season is over. While I'm not going to make any wild claims that they will surpass the Red Sox, there is always the wild card to contend for. Of course, the Red Sox may not always be so dominant, what with injuries, etc. Comments? Thoughts?

I like watching baseball... hell, I even liked playing it at school. But I have no idea about who's gonna win and stuff...

Is the only film anyone thinks when they hear/see 'James Earl Jones' is Star Wars? *sigh*

People will most definitely come.

Playing the game is fun and all. But watching it is so Sad meh. By the way, I'd like to point out that the only great baseball-like game I've ever seen was the one in BASEketball, and it was somewhat dissapointing.

"Your mom cooks bad!"

I don't hate baseball. I just don't like it much. I'm not saying that it sucks because that's opinion and everything I say sounds like I'm spreading truth-lies so there, I said it. If I wasn't asian I'd probably appreciate it a lot more than soccor or basketball. Basketball's the one that gets me going, but some teams like the Spurs (is it them?) are kind of boring to watch at times. My motto is do it, not watch it. So yesterday I twist-kicked a ball into the rim using my kicking skillz. I tried that with a baseball but I got knocked out for several minutes.

Update: The Yanks are getting close to actually holding a spot in the playoffs. Personally, I'm glad to see that A-rod hit his 500th HR. Also, last night's game was interesting -- with Josh Towers throwing at A-rod's knee. You just knew that the Rocket wasn't going to let it go. Sure, he was pitching great and went deep (for a 45 year old) into the game, but nothing was more satisfying that watching him hit Alex Rios in the back and then yell at the umpire for tossing him. Seriously, there is no reason why both benches should get the warning after one team deliberately hits another player. Let the teams make the call.

As a side note: I'm sad that the Yanks designated Cairo for assignment in order to bring back Giambi.

A-rod hit 2 HRs in the same inning (yesterday). First Yankee in 30 or so years to do that.

So, my season ended a few days ago and I'm coming to grips with it. Enough of the stories as to whether Torre will be fired. It's not freakin' news!

What's more important, the Yankees missing the play offs, or your team making the play offs? I realize you can hate the Yankees all you want, but it seems to me that many fans find it easier to root against the Yankees making the play offs than their own teams making it there. Why? Is it because maybe your team isn't so successful? Fans will also say that they haven't won a WS since 2000, well neither have the Cubs, Tigers, Indians, Reds & about 90% of the league.

You make a point. I think many rot against the Yankees like many may root against, say the Lakers. Of course, aside from steroid allegations (A-rod and Pettite) there really isn't anyone that has been to trail for rape like a certain Kobe. Sure, A-rod had divorce issues, but who is there that you could conceivable hate on the Yankees? And why hate them? Why hate a Jeter? Unless you are his neighbor and object to his 30k sq ft home project in Tampa, what has he done other than approach his job the way one should?

What strikes me as funny is the bandwagon jumper Red Sox fans who suddenly found themselves rooting for the Sox back in 2k5. You know the fans that have been around for a few years, mabe a decade or two -- you know the kind that never would consider booing a Ted Williams -- unlike older fans. Ah well. Fickle people.
