I hate hypothetical questions, especially when people use them against you later.
Eh. I dunno, if I was married, it would be something important, since I pretty much feel that way about nobody, but even now I want a kid.
I'd probably decide spontaneously. But chances are, I'd probably go with the kid. |

I don't really like them either, but this one is at least ok to answer. My girlfriend likes to ask me ones where both alternatives are bad. For example:
"Would you rather have sex with your dad OR have sex with a 600 pound man that had a sex change? And you have to pick one."
They get even worse than that too. haha. But it's all in fun and not to be used against me later or anything. I'll ask her similar questions too, but they are just stupid haha.
My guy friends like to do the "would you rather have sex with ____ or ___ ?" kinds of questions, which always tough cause both girls are normally really nasty. And, one of my friends in particular likes to make hypotheticals that involve you being trapped in a burning building with one door out, but it is locked and the only way to open the door is to press a button inside of man's ass that is in there with you. And, the worst part is, it's in so far that you can only reach it with your penis and you have to hit it like 9 times to open the door. Would you open the door or burn to death? haha. They have a lot like that too.
My friends are idiots haha. _________________

My initial reaction would be save the wife, mourn the child, make another one and never go conoeing again...
But, reflecting, I honestly don't think my wife would forgive me for letting our (fictional) child die...
Some questions don't have a right answer. |

| Difficult question: I'm a girl , so I don't have a wife, and also I hate children. So I'll probably leave them behind. |

Argh, it irks me when people (and I am not directing this at amyltrer) totally avoid the purpose of the question via some smartass response that isn't even funny. Here is the point of the question: You can save your spouse or your child. The choices are mutually exclusive, the consequences inevitable. Forget the whole "boat" scenario. Whom do you value more? Make a choice! _________________ Context is everything. |

Yeah well, but if you have a spouse you can make more...
Ofcourse you can do the same with your kid, but first of all, it has to be the opposite gender, and in some countries it's not considered completely legal... _________________

This question means jack to me. I was on a canoe and it did flip. I was on the Shenandoah River and we went over a particularly hostile rapid and weren't straight. The canoe's bow went down and to the left, then sprang up at enormous speed, flipping the entire canoe counter clockwise. Me and my woman were flung into the water. We were wearing life vests (as anyone should if they're getting into a canoe) but that didn't stop the jagged rocks on the bottom from ripping our knees and shins to shreds. They call them "Shenandoah Gators" because of the damage they can inflict. The current was quite strong and we had no control over anything. I was convinced I was gonna die. I had no time to think about Sherri, I just tried to right myself.
We tried to flip our feet forward so we could end up on our backs, like the canoe rental people told us, but every time we did the rocks would slam into our legs or knees. The pain in turn made me gasp, and so I of course involuntarily inhaled some water. So now I'm being flung down the river in some rough water, bleeding and aching from my legs, and now risk drowning. Luckily there were some resuce personnel on the side of the river tossing retrieval lines out to us. We weren't the only ones to hit that rapid the wrong way that day. But on to the topic.
I'd save the spouse, just out of practicality. I know that there's a biological imperative to protect your offspring at all costs, but when there's such an emotional and financial investment, not to mention all the time and money others have spent on them before you even met, it seems to make more sense to save the spouse. Have another kid if you want. It won't be the same, but I was never that fond of children to begin with anyway. _________________ "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."

Sure. It's a poorly considered, likely insincere choice. _________________ Context is everything. |

Very few people are jaded enough to callously disregard the lives those as close as spouses and children(considering they're, you know, yours).
Odds are, that nobody in this thread is one of those people. _________________ bitchez n hose |

I don't think jaded is the best word to describe me. I'll leave them behind because I don't need them. I hate children, and I don't want a spouse.(Nah, I'm not very sociable, I know). On the other hand, I would save my parents. |
