Illuminati
I have not read or seen The Da Vinci Code, but I have read Angels & Demons. It's one of the better books I have read and after seeing the teaser for the film, I was compelled, but a bit surprised at it's presentation. It's about a man trying to uncover the mystery of a cult-like society called "Illuminati" while trying to prevent a plot to destroy the Vatican city with antimatter.
The book is well-known for its background issue of science clashing with religous beliefs, as well as some of the cynicism of the Catholic church. If you're into these kinds of stories I suggest you read the book and perhaps watch the movie. And just to state, there are no supernatural elements, so you won't be seeing angels and demons brawling.

I enjoyed this book and the Da Vinci Code. I also read Dan Brown's other books although they were merely ok. The movie for the Da Vinci Code took a different ending than the book and was also... cumbersome. Not a good flick, IMO. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

| I've actually never read either, though I love stories that clash science and religion. One of my favorite stories is based on that actually. I might need to check this one out. |

Yah, because it's not like the this one was a book originally, or anything...

Yeah, and besides -- Danny's other books are pretty much rubbish (in a bad way). Trust me, I've read them. Kinda Harlan Cobin-ish. Not very thrilling nad make for good reading while sitting in airports. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

It was a pretty great movie. Better than the first, IMO.
As a side note, why is it that I learned more about the Vatican and how the whole thing works through this movie than I did through my religious schooling? _________________ You forget one thing: rock crushes scissors. But paper covers rock... and

Da Vinci Code (movie) lacked the excitment of the book. It wasn't hard to make a better film. I have seen Angles, but I'd gather it should be better. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

The only excitement I felt reading The Da Vinci Code was the thought that, upon my completion of it, I wouldn't have to pick up anything written by that semi-literate jackass again. Biggest pile of garbage ever. Dunno about the new one, but I reckon Angles and Demons would be a hit with the mathematicians. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Sure, the book wasn't as gripping as the plot of Crank 2, but I enjoyed it. To each their own, Irish. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

So the reviews for this film appear to be, fucking all over the place really. Your comments aren't particularly helpful in that regard.
So is this film a great big "meh" or does someone care to give a review judging whether this film succeeds, fails, or just floats competently? _________________

I liked it. Like I've previously stated, I haven't read the books.
So if you are someone who hasn't read the books, or liked the first movie, you WILL like this movie.
It was a gripping, fast, well-paced thriller with a couple twists and a solid story and characters.
Some parts... I could see coming, so they weren't a good surprise. Other parts caught me completely off guard.
Overall, it is a smidgen less believable than the Da Vinci Code, with a story based around a weapon built from technology that isn't possible yet.
All-in-all, I gotta say its definitely worth a watch, even if you want to wait until you can rent it. _________________ You forget one thing: rock crushes scissors. But paper covers rock... and
