7 Reasons the 21st Century is Making You Miserable

I recently read a very interesting article about how modern age conformities kinda ruin people now. It discusses how many of the conveniences we have are really just great burdens, and it makes sense, too. There were not internet trolls back then, and people bonded because of people, not online communities.

Here it is.

It's certainly worth reading if you're into socialism, and it does bring up some debate-worthy contraversy, some of you will likely disagree, some may agree. Thoughts about this?

I find the fact that electronic communication is destroying people's happiness is the essence of an article that was written by somebody who clearly spends far too much time on the internet rather amusing, actually.

I hope this is staying on topic, but I notice that communication has been made easier through technology... theoretically.

In actual practice? I see that most of my real-world friends can't find the time to answer their e-mails. I won't even get started on their deplorable habits of not returning phone calls. (Some of them don't ever update their Facebook page, leading me to wonder why the hell they bothered to sign up in the first place.)

Over the years, I've formed some friendships with people in some online communities and have spoken with them over the phone. Haven't met any of them face-to-face, since they're all spread out across the U.S. (and a tiny handful scattered across the rest of the planet) Maybe someday I'll be able to meet some of them; I'd certainly look forward to it.

I don't mind that technology makes it easier to not deal with annoying people. Honestly, I don't run into them that often, but I would like to minimize the chances of each encounter.
