Well I think the old RPG was one of our finer threads, and although it sorta just died out on us I think we can pull off some good stuff again, if you guys are interested. I just want to probe around and ask you guys what kind of settings/systems you'd be interested in. Currently I'm considering two settings: pulp-era adventure in the style of Indiana Jones (this is an old idea.), or some good ol' zombie apocalypse horror. I'll make a poll when we get enough suggestions, and then we can discuss the particulars in detail before starting off.

I'd also appreciate any suggestions as to some viable system options for a play-by-post environment. The way I see it, SSvA reasons for its failure were three-fold. First the system was a clunky mess. Recolouring all the text was a massive and eye-straining trainwreck of an idea, I admit. Second the story fragmented and escalated at an alarming rate. By the end we had something like five or six plot lines running concurrently. Either we need a system that cements character definition/abilities/limitations etc. or we just need to keep our heads cool and level and the story within bounds. The wild proliferation of ideas and creativity was great but ultimately it become a great bonfire with too little fuel to last because of the next reason: the game became too impenetrable. An unattractive system, a massive and murky plot, and some massive railroading by some of us (I'm probably the worst offender in this regard) led to a game that newcomers couldn't get into and players quickly got lost in. What we need is a system that's easy to use, to keep the story interesting and accessible, and to allows players to participate when they want without too much effort keeping track.

My own suggestion is to drop the colourization and simply stick to prose. The players take on the roles of the authors, not the characters, and write the plot in small chunks. I'd be glad to write and maintain a campaign record in order to summarize the events of the game so new players can join in without too much trouble and current players can keep track of what's going on. Though I think some of our other members (I'm looking at you, Sal) may have more talent for that than I do.

As for the duel, don't worry, it's still on. There have been a lot of problems with getting the duel actually set up (mostly Chainsaw and Az's fault) but I promise that we'll deliver within the year.

Btw, if you were wondering what I personally planned to do in SSvA after Aramor killed of my PC, I was going to return from the dead as a spirit bound to the sword I carried. The LoFG and Hive would then team up to fight the actual threat: the sheep. After they were defeated I would then turn on Aramor for stealing my brŘe, but then he'd likely escape with the Hive, setting up for a sequel.

Current Premise Suggestions
- Pulp-Era Adventure (Karst Jones and the Gravy of My Sausage)
- Zombie Apoc. (Thread of the Dead, 28 Posts Later, Left 4 Thread, etc.)

I say we go with the zombies. I've already had one RPG thread in my name, so...

Anyway, couldn't we do something with like a DM to make sure things don't go out of control?

Maybe I should clarify that suggestions could also be made for any future RPGs. In the future I'd like to try out a serious time travel game Ó la C║ntinuum (Wikipedia/TVTropes). But that will likely be advanced, complex and difficult as fuck to pull off. I suggest we only try that after we got our second, third, and maybe fourth RPG's.

So zombies it seems folks. But what kind of zombie flick we going to base this on? Thread of the Dead, 28 Posts Later, Left 4 Thread? I think a zombie western would be cool.

I vote for an Indiana Jones-esque story. With zombie Nazie.

Too bad that film died itself.

Okay we know we want zombies. Suggestions suggestions people!

I'm still rooting for the zombie western. But a nazi zombie apocalypse would be fucking triple-awesome.

But it's been done before... sort of.

I'm beginning to like the idea of a zombie western. We'll make a last stand at the O.K. Corral, the Yanks can be the National Guard and we'll let the gooks play the indians!!! I mean... nevermind that last part.

Since I'm presently in a Deadlands campaign, I can say that the undead/supernatural and the Old West do go well together.

Original or Savage Worlds? I know Chainsaw isn't fort of d20. Actually, what do you have against d20?

No chainsaws. Everyone knows they suck against zombies. The movies lied to us. But the zombie western is the best idea yet. It can be like Shotgun Showdown but more badass.

Original. I hate any system designed after 1998 (kidding).

I do play d20 Judge Dredd, I just prefer 2E to 3E. I did have big time issues with the absurd nerfing of Rangers and Bards in 3.0, I guess that just made me disinclined to give d20 D&D a go.
