By the way, the Latin names are Linguafoeda acheronsis (which I think refers to the original) and Internecivus raptus (which may be the new version). But only the second could be considered cannon, as it was on the box of the Quadrilogy, and the first was only in the comics. |
I like the latter as well just because it sounds alot cooler, even it's Latin translation sounds cool.

They can be real but they aren't always there, because the factors of the Queen Embryo/Chestburster, the Superfacehugger, and how long it would take for a Preatorian to change into a Queen, which we don't have the time to see in the movies, even though movie time is sped up. |

Everything about the Alien species would seem to be centered around the need to survive. Survival and deadly efficiency go hand in hand.
Thats why there shouldn't be a pred-queen. Theres only cosmetics there. Sure pred-alien's are there as "tank" soldiers and the runners as the "elite scouts". But whats the point of a pred queen.
She'll only make ordinary eggs, as the category of host decides the outcome. Therefore why would the alien genetics bother to allow for useless ineffecient cosmetics. I believe they wont, because survival is the goal. Not diversification.

Well Twinky, we dont completely know what your saying. and the term Praetorian kinda ment "Special Queen royal queen version". Praetorian is just easyer to say. And i mean, we dont know exactly about theyer biology. i mean, the queen "may" stay pure. theres always the chance that it oculd take on the traits of a predator.
Another differance between the hunter and drone that no one pointed out is theyer drive. a drone will bleed out quickly if you blow off a limb or two, but a warrior will keep attacking. if you blow off its legs, it will keep crawling at you trying to maul you, while a drone will probably just with and die. and i think the warriors and stronger shells then the drones. they might even be able to regenerate.
I dont mean complete wounds, i just mean heal quickly. |

Uh, in this case the Praetorian is literally a different class of an Alien, it's not just one of the drones/warriors who protects the Queen. It also isn't canon until we see the actual thing in a movie. The warriors in Aliens were trying to protect the eggs and the Queen, but they aren't Praetorians.
I'm not really sure if I want to count that Queen in AVPR as canon, because the whole movie was complete bullshit other than the effects, the one thing the directors got right.

Requiem is canon. Wasn't great, but it brought in alot of new apsects of the aliens. Some I would call pretty questionable, like how the Predqueen can impregante via the mouth, kinda makes the eggs obsolete if it can just breed that way.

I consider Praetorians to be "developing queens." They are just queens, but not fully matured yet. They are not a separate stage, would be my diagnosis.
