But the question I've always wanted answered is...
Wonder bread or Mayonnaise...which is whiter? _________________ Why must the government repress our god-given right to no pants? |

| What I want to know is... who in God's name let the dogs out? I mean, people have been pondering that question for years now and I've never been able to figure it out. |

It was me, the Justified Ancient of Mu Mu, who came from the lost continent of Mu many summer solstices ago to, as you put it, let the dogs out...
... and who also demands an explanation for this bullshit, although he knows he won't get it.
Now, as for the 'oh dear, why are whites not allowed to use a word that's felt to be deragatory and hurtful for blacks' bs:
Of course it has to do with centuries of slavery, oppression and decades of being deprived of civil rights. What else do you think? The word has become a symbol of that oppression and like so many deragatory words has been taken by the oppressed.
| Salman Rushdie wrote: | | To turn insults into strengths, whigs, tories, Blacks all choose to wear with pride the names they were given in scorn |
I know, as an Indonesian Dutch, my father does not like to be called 'pinda' (peanut), indeed a name given in scorn by the former coloniser, by Dutch people, but he does call his Indonesian friends and sometimes his sons 'pinda' or 'plopper' (another name of scorn).
Now, with those times fading from our collective memories, some young blacks may not know that, but it is what you'd find out if you spend some of the energy you put into randomly throwing around swear words and posting your head off on this forum in learning some of your history or ask an older African American who knows his Black ideology.
Mind you, most African Americans I know do not like it even if their fellow African Americans throw around the n-word. _________________ The Justified Ancient of Mu Mu |

By oldest brother and I sometimes call each other "Rice cracker." _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

Well I have a Chinese friend I sometimes refer to as "Chink", but since we're friends and we both know it's in good (well, maybe not good) humor... _________________

A few of my friends use the n word, though it's because the ones who use the word are black.
I myself have been called a Chink by friends and I don't really take much offense from it, though if used as an insult I would be, just like how the n word was taken as an insult back then and most of the time, now.
... also, I'm glad that I finally know who let the dogs out. |

I have no idea why Nron is bringing notice to a different thread than this. Dude, off-topicness emerges naturally, don't impose it. _________________

We're not here because we're free. We're here because we're not free. There is no escaping reason, no denying purpose. Because we both know how the rest of this quote goes. _________________

Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?
"No," says the man in Washington, "It belongs to the poor!"
"No," says the man in the Vatican, "It belongs to God!"
"No," says the man in Moscow, "It belongs to everyone!"
We rejected those answers. Instead, we chose something different... we chose the impossible... we chose...
