Fallout without Radscorpions is not a Fallout. It's like Mad Max without Mel Gibson.
| cfos wrote: | | Something (new to me, at least) they also said in the article is that you will be able to aim at limbs and there are percentages for making each "body" shot. |
This was already in Fallout 1 and 2. You could make targeted shots for only one AP more (unless you had a certain trait) and then you could aim at certain parts, disabling them and having more chance at a critical shot. Also, one weird mutated creature had certain parts labeled with ???.
| cfos wrote: | | They also said not to go out into the woods without meds. You break your legs out there... and it will be a very long game. |
Also true to the originals. Break a leg and you can't run. Break both... and you're screwed. Break an arm and you can't use two-handed weapons. Break both... and you're screwed. Lose an eye, get a penalty on your aiming. Lose 'em both... you get the picture. Well, the Raider with no eyes didn't, but nobody cares about those people. _________________

Thus far, enjoyable. Seen some radroaches, and heard some growling. Still low level. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Especially since, technically, condoms made during the rough approximation of that period in time would have been made of sheep intestine. Or possibly bladder.
...of course, that's more a renaissance thing. During the middle ages, I don't think people really gave two shits about birth control. _________________ Why must the government repress our god-given right to no pants? |

In Fallout 2 condoms actually were a part of the plot... sorta.
You see, if you go to New Reno and have sex with some mob boss's wife and daughter, without having condoms with you and you don't do certain other quests, your offspring will rule the city!!! _________________

Of course they would. That is how they are described in the game. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Haven't seen them in Fallout 3 yet. The XBOX 360 version has an interesting targeting system (V.A.T.S.). Essentially, when you see someone you want to shoot you get them in the reticle, pull the right bumper and the target highlights with %ages of success at shooting torso, limb or head. As you move (and they) the percentages go up and down. Based on skill and weapon you can squeeze off a certain number of rounds. Looks like you can target more than one limb/head, etc. Then it goes to a cut scene for the carnage... or the miss. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Loving it so far. But no targetting of the eyes and groin? Travesty! How are you 'sposed to pwn Deathclaws now? Spoiler: | I'm assuming that they're gonna be in it, and the character talking about the "claws of death" was foreshadowing them. |
And yes, Virginia*, there is a Radscorpion. Big buggers, too.

Does anyone here not aim for the head when using VATS? It's awfully tempting, especially when you have Bloody Mess. _________________ Only the strongest will survive.

Just to confirm, yes there are Deathclaws and they are fast. Haven't had to face one solo. Watched the "tech" faction take on one and they lost some members in the challenge.
I don't always aim for the head. When "sneaking" you get bonuses and I often just want to take the Supermutants down -- especially if they have a mini-gun. Likewise, I don't think the radscorpians have a head
Really enjoying this game. Haven't made enough cash to "redecorate" my shack, yet. The game has a lot of the flavor or Bioshock, but is superior in my view for a few reasons. Some on the xbox forum poo-poo the 3rd person view although I kinda like it. Not saying I "love" it -- since you can't ever get a front-facing view of your character, although, it does allow for you to better see your environment which was tough for me with Bioshock. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Hold down LB and you can use the right stick to rotate and zoom the third person camera. _________________

Hmm... I'll try that. Thanks! Love the game. Really has a more Morrowind feel in terms of the environment -- moreso than Oblivion. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Agreed. Morrowind > Oblivion, imo. It was bugging me yesterday that I couldn't see my hockey mask very well, and I remembered that you can rotate the camera in Oblivion by holding the change view button and moving the mouse, and the rest is history. I'm pretty sure the flashlight isn't mentioned in the manual, either. Got Psychotic Prankster yet?
Also: At least there's no cliff racers. _________________

Just to confirm... Yes, there is Dogmeat in FO3. Also other "followers" depending on your Karma level. Sadly, I realized that you stop leveling at 20. There is "talk" that you can continue to level once the ad-ons are available. Choose perks carefully. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Which is true to Fallout.
Then again, in Fallout if you were level 20, you didn't need to level anymore since you kicked ass with biblical proportions. _________________

Sadly in Fallout 3 you level up way too easily/quickly. And, for anyone who hasn't played it yet, don't waste your choices on perks that increase skills. The game's full of skill enhancing items. _________________

Yeah, I noticed that when I played it at a friend's place. Putting on a certain suit made you better at repair and lockpick. I was like, what the hell? _________________

Yeah... I hit level 20 before getting half-way through the mq. I'm not regretting taking the gun-nut or the thief perks which boosted skills. I'd not have chosen the xp bonus. Maybe one of the others, too. Ah well. I can always replay. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |
