Alien 5!

I thought Alien 3 was really good. David Fincher's a legend...

I thought Alien3 was very good considering the circumstances under which the movie was made. There was no working script to start with; they basically wrote and rewrote the movie a few times while it was in production. Fincher was new to filmmaking, having only ever worked on smaller projects like music videos.

I think the concept of having nowhere to run (they're all on an isolated planet with no technology and no transport off) was a good tension builder. The claustrophobic maze of catacombs made for an excellent setting. The rod puppetry they used for the Alien (no CGI!) gave it a much more organic feel than the computer-generated swimmers in Resurrection. Still, it wasn't as good as Aliens or the original. But it wasn't terrible, and it certainly moved the story forward.

I've actually come across people who say Alien 3 sucks because they agree with the critics. Half those people say they haven't seen the movie. Confused

@ Smiley. I always felt in many ways it was essentially a remake of Alien, obviously without the first one's original impact (but hey, it came out the year I was born - I actually saw Aliens first), but, as you mentioned, with a deep sense of claustrophobia that I preferred to the first one.

Hmm. Alien 5. Seems plausible. I'm worried that they'll make it into something it's not supposed to be, tho.

I apologize for lack of link-age, but at one point I found the opening lines to a planned Alien 5 script. It had something to do with the Space Jockeys abducting a member of a engineer crew IN SPACE and then obliterating the engineer's ship.

I really liked the first AVP Anyways If they do make another AVP or Alien I feel the Aliens need to score a victory somewhere for once.

Or at least pose a bigger risk to the human characters then they did in AvP 1 and 2.
