EA Fails Spectacularly - Spore (Also every other EA game)

So EA decided to bend customers over and give them hard anal love with a draconian DRM scheme. Essentially, any single copy of Spore can only can only be installed three times, ever. I don't know whether or not reimaging a computer triggers the counter, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Even when it is installed, it needs to contact the mothership via internet at least every ten days or else the game will refuse to run. A lot of folks haven't been enthusiastic. Amazon 'accidently' deleted all those user reviews. The response was predictable and justified, so Amazon 'recovered' the reviews. So far over 2100 of ~2400 reviews have bashed the game.

During all this, Spore has become the Most Pirated Game In History. Good going EA...

Shamus Young could figure out how to curb piracy. How come the bean counters on high can't?

I say it's a fucking disgrace.

The Spore DRM has caused them to superfail at getting me to buy the full game. Pity, because I liked the 'Creator, but DRM = no money from me. They can digitally manage someone's sweaty ballsack for all I care.

Stardock do fine with no copy protection at all.

He, I thought you were gonna bash the game itself. Anyway, yeah, I'm not gonna buy the game because of that stupid protection system. Luckily I got a "borrowed" version from a friend, so I got the game anyway. I just can't go on the internets.

And I must say, it's a nice game. The only problem I have with it is that it puts different games in one (RPG, RTS etc) and therefore the different stages are nice, but feel a little empty. Then again, if it took you 3 weeks to go from Creature Stage to Tribal Stage the game would be boring.

So EA is going the whole fucking hog with their DRM, damning to hell any of the consequences. Let us look at a small list of games EA has raped, and will rape, so far...

Mass Effect
Spore
Crysis: Warhead
Dead Space
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3
Warhammer Online
and possibly the retail version of Left4Dead

I weep that I cannot enjoy these games because I can't actually buy them.

Personally I had a feeling Spore was gonan fail. Looks like i was sadly correct.

Why is that whenever im right it always turns out in misery or a triple homicide?
