Similar to the happy/sad thread, I thought a confused thread might provide an alternative to what happens that leaves us feeling confused. Could be the odd drunken phone call you receive, the odd comment at work or just a sort of sticky situation. Also, maybe something that leaves you with a choice to make. Here I'll start:
Last week, I went to the Wheel store to get the tires on the the Wiff's Mini swapped out (dedicated snow tires on some schweet rims) to the stock all-seasons (I didn't care for their performance in the snow). Anyway, I had noticed some side-wall bulging in the two front tires and was thinking, "Crap!". Turns out, three tires have the damage and one of the front rims got some bendage. It'd be about $80 bucks to repair the bendage and if I went with the snows, it would be about $825 for a new set. So here is the pair 'o docks:
I like the "snow" rims better:
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=MorePartInfo&PartID=321292&siteid=214203&catalogid=3751
I could replace the set and get the winter tires, as stated, for $825. If I stick with the stock all-seasons, through the Winter, I could use the "snow rims" (pictured above) as "summer wheels", but if I went with run flats, it would cost about $1450/set. I could go with non-run flats and shave a good $800-1000 or so, bucks off, but the car doesn't have a donut in cash of a flat. We'll likely pay the car off this year and now the Wiff isn't sure if we should trade it in or pick up a third car. What to do, what to do... _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

| Ugh, I feel your pain - I just had a flat tire when I returned from lunch the other day. I'm broke, but I thought "Well, a patch job won't cost me more than $20, so I'll be OK". Nope! $125 bill starin' me in the face; the tire couldn't be repaired, so I ended up springing for 2 new tires. Ouch! |

Thanks. Freakin tires. I hate how you also have to usually buy 2 as they work as a set... These tires hadn't even had a full year on 'em. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Meh, with bikes it's the same thing. My gears weren't all working a while ago (on my bike I mean) so I took it to the shop and it was about 125 euros to repair everything.
Then a while later, the gear shift thingy broke down. Luckily that was only about 20 euros. Well, including the new brakes it was 30 euros, but I can live with that.
It was pretty exciting to be on my bike before I got it repaired. Imagine a bike that sometimes shifts gear, causing you to peddle in the air and the brakes are so worn down you need about 20 metres to come to a full stop. _________________

I had a (somewhat) similar experience to Arm -- but with a car. The year was 1992 (or 3). I was driving from Syracuse to Ithaca (NY) in a snow storm. At some point, the car's computer failed and every time the RPMs revved below 1000, the car would stall. Being that the car had an automatic transmission, it was quite odd to have to shift into neutral while driving through the towns. A shift-able automatic. huh. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

Go for the cheap option!
My entire car cost me half the cost of a set of tires for the mini.
@Aramor. You should really learn to strip and repair your own bike - that way when something goes excitingly wrong, you have only yourself to blame... _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Yeah, but when I have to replace the entire gears and chain and shifting mechanisms, I still gotta buy them... might as well let them install it as well. _________________

I did get drunk dialed by my parents once. That was awesome.
Anyways, I got an invitation in the mail today for a wedding that's on Saturday. It's in Houston. Reminds me of when, a couple of years ago, I received a bridal shower invite on the day of the shower, which was in Wisconsin. I guess I'm only confused because I thought that wedding invites were usually sent with a little more notice. _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

Hmmm... Sounds like:
(1) your invite was discover to have been NOT mailed
(2) you aren't expected to have gone, anyway
(3) they are fishing for a gift, or
(4) you slept with the man in question and the fiance has had issues wit this, but said hombre put his foot down and mailed it himself. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

It was mostly funny because Mom was laughing a lot.

Of those options, 1, 2, and 3 are the most likely because it's a relative. _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

Yes. Although, a certain compound in Texas ia also drawing attention.
Anyway, what confused me today was my homebuilder. For whatever reason, I have 4 outlets right by the toliet in the master bathroom. The toliet isn't near any sink or mirror and has it's own light, yet I can't understand why they installed 4 outlets right next to it. Why would you ever need 1 (not 4!). Very strange. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

If they told you, they'd have to kill you...
You could, for example, be making soup, and have gotten to the stage where you need to blend it and add cream before it gets cold. Suddenly, you are struck by the urge to lighten your load, and because you have four outlets next to your toilet, not only can you plug the food processor in and blend while you sit, you can also bring the radio in for company and recharge your laptop. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

Not enough space. I'll take pics. Besides, what I failed to mention is that the cat box is very near. Not sure food or bevvys are appetizing. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |

There's a wasp in my apartment and I'm not sure how it got in. I've been out at work all day and it wasn't here when I left this morning and didn't follow me in through the door when I got back (or left for that matter). _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

In a game where they don't seem to avoid dropping the F-bomb, I find the "simulated" sex scenes of GTA4 to be quite comical. I'm confused as to their choice of scripts. _________________ "If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak." |
