Bioshock, the "spiritual successor" to System Shock 2, is one amazing looking game.
I downloaded the demo yesterday and would have been blown away by the astounding graphics but I was far too immersed into the incredible (and sometimes scarily disturbing) underwater city of Rapture. _________________ You forget one thing: rock crushes scissors. But paper covers rock... and

Still trying to decide whether to get it on PC or 360. I like having the analogue stick to control my movement, but the mouse gives much better aim. Not loving the dumbed-down, console-friendly nature of the game so much. No inventory, wtf? Great atmosphere, though. Stranglehold is well worth downloading as well. _________________

It's a good game. Not perfect, mind. Plenty of negative points. I'm pretty far into it now. Runs very well too, considering I'm only using one of my graphics cards. It apes System Shock 2 so very closely at times that it borders on a remake. I think they're maybe a little peeved that EA renewed the licence on the System Shock name. _________________

I nearly beat it, but then my 360 locked up and got the Red Ring of Death.

I liked it. Luckily I avoided the "ring of ire" by getting the PC version. It was kinda odd that it re-trod so much of the Thief and 'Shock 2 era. The old school Looking Glass system of having one lead designer for one level throws up the usual mix of turkeys and triumphs. It works best as a sort of combat sandbox, letting one kill the enemy in a hundred different ways. Needed a better ending, and some more polishing though. On the plus side, I did kill a splicer by telekinetically smashing him in the face with a giant pumpkin. _________________

| Picked this game up this past weekend for the 360. Big-time fun. I know it is a game and all, but can get a little creepy. |

I am going to get it some point. I have quite a few games the I want to get. I just built a new computer to play all these new games on high graphics. Just ran out of money for software... _________________ "I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

Okay, I'm playing through it right now (I mean right now, having two computers rocks) and I have to say.
Prey's death mechanic didn't get any awards, why is a horror game using an auto-resurector? _________________

Who knows. It seems a little like the makers of the game go kind of easy on the player in that regard...
then again, it's surprisingly easy to die. and die again. Maybe they just felt that it was necessary. _________________ Why must the government repress our god-given right to no pants? |

Games are far too easy on players these days, imo. For example, I enjoyed the new Tomb Raider, but the checkpoint system makes the game way too easy. Part of the appeal of the originals was the difficulty. You finished a level, it had probably taken you ages do it and you felt like you'd accomplished something. I know designers are trying to appeal to a wider audience these days, but still... _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

You obviously haven't played UT3 then. The bots are wimps, but most people on multiplayer are nigh-unbeatable. _________________

No no. CS and TF2 and BF are all pretty evenly leveled. But in UT you've either been playing the franchise for years and are a master at it, you're a point dispenser. _________________
