Variable policies of life insurance differ from retirement plans in that you are taxed during initial investments whereas the standard retirement plans (not talking Roth) will incure taxes (federal and possibly state) when you cash them in. Thus, assuming you are retired and using your retirement as you income, you will have to still pay deductions and probably won't have and tax breaks -- assuming that you have paid down/off your home, etc. It is a very interesting calculation and balance.

Indeed...if humans disappeared tomorrow, cockroaches would die by the millions. They're addicted to central heating in the same way that people are addicted to oxygen.

Since some mushrooms can metabolize radiation in a similar way to how plants metabolize sunlight, they'd survive past the cockroaches, presumably.

...which means that you could still get some nice atomo-truffles even a hundred years after the cataclysm.
