Those who
Who stood in the middle of the way
things went
who had a solution to the problem
who were crushed when
the statue of a king
hewn out of halfforgotten rock
fell
when all exotic dreams, used as chisels,
fell
when their laboriously translated ideas
fell
and in the distance the shadows of giants
laughed their secret laughs behind micefists.
Who were spread hunted captured
and disappeared
and disappeared.
Who became ghosts
who during the days pushed their carts with candy
through streets to provide for their ghostly bodies
and at night hung their skeletons
in unfindable closets.
Who for years
centuries impelled to keep silent.
But who indestructible now
here and now
will come together every now and then
for a bit of politics. |

Thanks, Spidey. You're welcome to, actually!
It's about the oppresion of communists following the 1965 coup in Indonesia, by the way.
Here's another one I recently wrote:
I have grown old
and too large
my feet have become strangers to me by now
and my legs much too long
my underbelly a distant unknown horizon beyond
an endlessly extended trunk.
And my hands have a tendency to
shake each other and introduce themselves,
upon meeting the other by chance,
whenever my arms get lost again.
But my head has stayed small – too smal, so that
my brains press against my skull and
squeeze themselves out
in the shape of earwax, snot and tears.
I have grown old
and too large. _________________ The Justified Ancient of Mu Mu |

I composed this little ditty in the lab yesterday. It may help people to know that the Chironomid in question is the aquatic larva of a non-biting midge family. It's about 3mm long and looks for all the world like a bit of pocket lint.
Ode to a Chironomid
Shall I compare thee to a bit of fluff?
Your head capsule so smooth, your
cuticle so rough?
How I strain your slender form to spy
- identity determined by the
placement of an eye.
Times uncounted have I your prolegs gripped
From oft-sieved tray to alcoholic
grave you slipped.
And so Chironomini, our separate ways we fly!
Me to my bed and you to your
sediment to lie. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!
