It was Owen, Gerrard and Heskey. On Sky Sports in the UK they have fanzone, where you can hear two fans commentate on the game. For this game they had a Germany fan and an England fan. As the game went by the German guy ( who started out happy 'cos they scored first ) got more and more depressed. By the fourth goal he was saying 'stop ze match, zis is ze end of German football'. I know it's cruel, but oh how I laughed. _________________

Oh my god...
A site that actually calls football 'football' instead of 'soccer' or 'British-football'...I'm in heaven.
Crystal Palace forever. _________________

Since when?
Anyway, speaking of Chelsea, the fuckers have done it to me again by throwing the Premiership away and then going out in the semis of the Champion's League to Liverpool again. There's still the FA cup tho.
These are minor gripes tho - they didn't win anything at all while they languished in the Second Division for most of my life... _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

I don't like football/soccer at all.
In fact, the real thing I hate about it is mainly it's fanbase. I mean, so many braindead footballfanASSHOLES out there who already hate another person without knowing him/her, just because he/she is wearing a shirt from another football/soccer team. I mean, come on, why the hell are those people like that? They really piss me off.
It also pisses me off that whenever there's a world cup in some country, thousands and thousands of dollars/euro's of TAXPAYER'S money (Like me for instance) regardless if they like the sport or not, gets spent in security for the city where the games are held, just to limit (I say limit because there is ALWAYS some damage and vandalism) the mess some of those football/soccer jerk fans make.
Also, football players. Come on. I can imagine you can get hurt in the game with a nasty fall or something, but some of the players give the word "pussy" a whole new dimension. They trip over their own legs, or get patted by a player of the opposite team, fall over and act like they are trampled by a fucking stampede of rhino's.
What is this? a sport or an audition for the bold and the beautiful?
Also, the whole player base thing is just crap. People just buy other players from other countries, so basically, the club with most money, buys the better players, and keeps winning. But I guess that happens with most team sports. That's why I prefer non team based sports, or at least, limited teams, such as in race sports for example.
Oh yeah, I have 2 friends who are quite the football fans, and they know my opinion, so don't even try to say I'm wrong, because I'm not, my arguments are based on facts. Blah! _________________ Back in action |

I think you could make the same argument about the fanbase of any sport that popular. Although it is true that there tend to be less incidents of any sort at big rugby matches (a sport which I prefer anyway), but the crowds tend to be smaller.
The same raging fanaticism that causes problems also makes for an absolutely incredible atmosphere at games, particularly big ones, as anyone who's been to a live game can attest to. I haven't been to a match in a few years but a mate just got back from the Liverpool/Chelsea Champion's League semi-final, arguably one of the biggest matches of the year, and he was buzzing for a fortnight. Best 800 quid he ever spent.
Also, when was the last time the World Cup was held in Belgium? _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!

i haven't. too scared to get my head busted into my seat with a metal rod.
and you can't just blame it on the exceptional playfulness of Polish fans. British, German, Italian fans are all known to go violently amok over footbal games.
there's much truth in what Luna says, none other sport arouses such levels of aggression, and i can understand the bad associations the game consequently provokes.
i still love watching good football, but "sheltered by my channel surfing". _________________ i have no time for anal love

Awesome! Chelsea won the FA Cup! Maybe Mourinho will stay now!
Absolutely shite match but for the goal, which in true Chelsea fashion came three minutes before the end of extra time. Fan-tastic. _________________ Da Fro-mastah of da aLp Forums!
