Double-Y chromo

Why oh why did no one EVER correct the director, or scriptwriter, or WHOEVER in Alien 3 that kept referring to males as double-y chromos?

We only have ONE Y chromo, and the chicks have NONE! We ALL have an X, it comes from the female's ova.

That's probably the biggest thing that bugs me out of ANY of the Alien movies

So true. I took it for granted when I didn't know it was wrong, but the minute I had this subject in Biology class I remembered the movie and knew it was erronous (that's like, when there's an error in it, right?). It totally freaks me out whenever I hear that line...

Being a different sepecies , xenos might have 2 Y chromosoms (and a lot of X ones, hell knows) In fact their species weren't differentiated in males and females. The Qeen was a female (I hope), and the drones were........ neutres. Offfff, such a weird life cycle at thoses aliens.......

As for the chromosomes, i have only 2 X ones. That's for sure!

Yeah well, but in Alien³ thet were referring to the inmates as double-y chromo's... and those were just ordinary human males...

It is possible for a human, male to have 2 y chromosomes, but as u saw in the movie they are 1) extremily dangerous, b/c the Y chromo gives men their aparence and their features (including testasterone) so doble Y = dolbe the lv of testaterone which give u a very pumped up man. (the thing with the testaterone is not confirmed yet), and 2) they are also unstable, basically because of the same reason as 1).
Same thing works for women w/ triple X chromos, a gurl pumped up on estrogen is not a pretty site. (No offense to girls out there who read this post).

The only way it would be possible for a man to have two y chromosomes is if he were genetically altered. Same for a woman and having three x chromosmes. Human beings have two. One inherited from the mother, one from the father. Every sperm in the male body has either a y chromosome or an x chromosome which it carries and passes on after fertilizing the egg. Every egg in the female body has an x chromosome. Only an x chromosome because it can't contain something it's never had (as in a y chromosome). The only way an x chromosome is ever in the female body is after he squirts, or if she's preggy with a boy.

I read somewhere it is possible for males to have a double Y and they are usually the ones who end up in jail cos they are all sktizo crazy people.

they might not all have had double y but it is also like an expression sorta thing for violent people who end up in prison.

Yeah. accidents with too many chromosomes can happen (e. g. Down Syndrome). But the fact that there is a whole prison full of them is a bit odd. Perhaps they were the result of some experimentation. Hmmm....or maybe that movie just sucked.

It's technically impossible for a human male to be double y. Caus that means that two males had to make out, and then that one of them got pregnant. He would also be missing certain genetical information, caus unlike the x, the y chromo doesn't hold any genetical information. So it's impossible to be double y. Also, with Down Syndrome, you have chromosome 21 three times (IIRC).

But hey, it's a science fiction movie. With fictional characters. F.I.C.T.I.O.N.A.L characters. Am I getting through to you at all?

XXX - The super-female sindrom;

XXY - The Klinefelter sindrom (all four from above)
XXXY -
XYY -
XXYY -
A human may have more Y chromosoms, but it must have at least one X chromosome (there is XO - the Turner sindrom) YY forms are aborted in the first 2 weeks of pregancy.
