It's quite simple. By the telling and understanding of the Xenomorph>Life-cycle, it would be quite easy to tell the difference. But I'll save you the trouble and just skip to the drone and Warrior parts.

Drone -
After the chestburster has neared complete finish of the cacooning, or molding process, it emerges from said cacoon and is now the first step in the adulthood of an Alien -- the Alien Drone. The Drone is the worker of the hive, much like drones in a Bee hive. They gather hosts, secure eggs, produce resin for the structure of the hive, and so on. They have a domed head, sometimes showing a clear view of their left & right cerebrums, yet some have lumped heads showing no sign of the brain, and some have shortened heads with a flat, round surface, and a shiny overcoating. After some period of time, the Drone loses its dome (which molds into the head allowing a faint view of the Xenomoron's first layer of the inside of the head), evolving into...

Warrior -
The second (and in most cases, the last step) of the Xenomorph adulthood: the Alien Warrior. The Warrior is capable of much things, such as (in some cases) enhanced strength, leaning forward more to travel on all fours much more often, the melding of the pointer finger with the middle finger and the ring finger with the pinky finger (in some cases), and of course, most recognizable, the melding of the dome on the head, which clearly shows a layer of the complicated brain.

It becomes much more agressive, travels in groups more often, and serves more as an elite guard to the hive, eggs, and Queen, much more than anything else.

---
---

In the pictures, you can clearly see the differences between the Drone and the Warrior. I hoped this helped.

It's easy.

THE GAMES, COMICS, AND ALL THAT OTHER SHIT IS FAKKKEEEE!!!!

Believe only in the movies, and the knowledge will be with you.

Warriors are matures Drones. Call it "aging."

Drones are matured Chestbursters.

Chestbursters are the embryos in which a Facehugger implants the host with.

A Facehugger is that creepy spider thing you see in the movies.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PREATORIAN!!!!

So where does the Queen come from, you ask? Well, there is something called a Superegg, either laid exclusively from a desperate Queen, or created from a special fluid injected into a captured host from ONLY an Alien Drone. The host is then "transforming" into the Superegg over a long period of time, ranging from several hours to several days.

What is a Superegg, you ask? Well, call it the "real" Preatorian egg, but it only houses a Superfacehugger, not multiple Facehuggers and a Preatorian Facehugger.

What is a Super Facehugger, you ask? Well, it's sort of a replacement for the Preatorian Facehugger, but there are minor differences. One, they have webbed legs. Two, they are able to infect three hosts in which one of them is the Queen's embryo (which, while in ANY host no matter what it is, turns into a REGULAR Queen Chestburster. Not a Pred-Queen, not a Cow-Queen, a REGULAR QUEEN!!). Again, there is no Preatorian.

As the Queen emerges from her host, she developes into the monstrosity you first see in Aliens.

DO NOT believe any of that crap from the comics and games. Only the movies.

That means only the egg, Embryo, Chestburster, Drone, Warrior, Superegg, Superfacehugger, Queen, and Newborn (to my disgust) exist.

The Period of Time it takes for a Drone to become a Warrior is unspecified. The colonies on LV-426 in Aliens were infested with the Xenomorph race for an unspecific amount of time, but was somewhere around days to weeks. Drones were the ones who infested the building, and when Ripley and crew came, they were already experienced Warriors, and in vast numbers.

Aliens are usually the temperature of their surroundings. Heat seeking would be useless. (however, sometimes in movies you can see their breath, indicating it would be warmer than the air outside)

none the less, aliens have acid blood, and there isn't much info about their biological specs, since it's a movie monster.

If you need an explanation about the pred vision to track aliens, it would most likely be something that detects either concentrations of acid, or electric currents (acid generates electricity).

Either way, I usually try not to dig too deep into this stuff, because it's not so important, it's just entertainment. In fact, not giving much tips and info about a "monsters" biology, culture and other things, secures it from people who always rant about how "this" and "that" is impossible in the movies. Here's a tip:"It's a movie. It's not real. Enjoy the ride."

I don't agree with you Lunabella. I think it's fun and also entertaining to speculate such things. What if...

Blaster, would you take the fact of a "Ballistic Bear mutation Alien" over a more logical "Just a Drone with a different host, goddamnit"?

The Runner is nothing but a Drone who infected a different host, in this case an oxen/dog (depends on the version you watched).

They all look cool, but I would have to say the ones in Ressurection and AvP looked the best. But that's my opinion.

The theatrical version and video tape version has the Dog Alien. The Un-cut version has the original idea of the Ox Alien. Both are Runners.

during our trip home from our holiday(mentioned eleswhere) me and my friend got into a argument about AVP fisrt he said that the comics are proper instead of the movie because it was made first i tried to tell him what you said to me about how only the movies are proper to the franchise'
the second he said that the predalien should be a predqueen i also tried to tell him that there are only alien queens like you said to me he rebutted
with''you only know that from a game and if only the movies are proper it might happen.

can you please give me proof i can use against him Smile

The only thing other than movies that are canon are SOME novels. Such as Female War and Genocide. None of the comics are canon, because they were until they took that privelage away from them theirselves.

A Predqueen can't happen simply because a Queen Embryo is FIXED -- no matter what host it goes into, it changes into either a Queen or an Empress. Or a Queen MOTHER (-1% chance).

Also, every movie in the Predator/Alien sagas are canon. The Newborn (much to my disliking) is also canon...

Also, the only difference between a Queen and an Empress is appearence, and sometime size. And maybe a temper-problem.

A Queen MOTHER is the leader of Hives, or is a descendant of the first Alien. At least that's how it's supposed to go. It's much larger, has a production rate of Queen Jelly, and has different crown on the head, so it looks much less like a female human's insides. I think.

Anyway, comics and some games deviate from how originally things are supposed to be. Like a bat alien. It's just a modified drone, but they insist on telling us that they're a different rank, such as a Warrior. But no, it's not true.

I can't control your friend, but the younger they are, the more they tend to believe... how should say this...

...they tend to believe bullshit like a Predqueen. Cool as it sounds, it can't be.

I think they're two different species, the ones in the first three movies and the ones in Ressurection and AVP.

By the way, the Latin names are Linguafoeda acheronsis (which I think refers to the original) and Internecivus raptus (which may be the new version). But only the second could be considered cannon, as it was on the box of the Quadrilogy, and the first was only in the comics.

Praetorians are real, but they are more like young, underdeveloped queens. They mature into queens if they find their own hive area, or they take the place of a dead queen.
