Didn't know if there was a topic for this stuff already, but yeah, so..
Anyways.
I'm currently in the process of renewing this model of the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk CV-63 that I built a while back. Just a bit of stuff, repainting, regluing, it wasn't until today I realized how much work needed to be done on it, so I just scraped all of the paint off and now changing it completely. It looks pretty cool right now, and I'll probably post pics of it when I completely fix it.
Post your hobbies/projects you're doing now. Come on, it'll be fun! _________________

I'm playing Timesplitters 2 again. Trying to unlock everything.
Besides that... uhm... collecting empty cigarette boxes of all the brands I smoke/smoked and collecting bottle caps from the beers I had... _________________

Currently expanding my library via Half-Price Bookstores and bargain bookstores...even though I really should read more of the books I already own.
Other than that, I'm trying to get accustomed to using the various photo editing software I have on my computer for one of my classes, Digital Imaging. _________________ When life hands you lemons, you make some lemonade. The Ottoman Empire and Pre-Colonial Africa are right now of interest to me. They do have more to do with the classes I am taking in History, but I've basically, for lack of a better phrase, fallen in love with Arnold Joseph Toynbee and I am proceeding to wreak havoc on JStor's academic article database and downloading all pdf's they have that he authored back in his time. It's really sweet stuff.
I've also been killing myself at the gym trying to rehab my legs from the surgeries I've gotten on them during the summer and this past thanksgiving break, and I'm getting prepared for more complicated surgery this summer. The other reason I'm doing the whole gym routine, something I wouldn't normally bother with, is because I'm finally headed somewhere for spring break out of the prying eyes of my parents, preferably somewhere warmer than the -3 degrees Fahrenheit it is where I am right now. Sexual escapades await! _________________ "Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love." - Albert Einstein |

This made me think of another historian, J.M.C Toynbee (no relation, I've checked) who did a book on funerary elements in the Roman world. Although I've used it several times, I never remember to buy it for myself. Anyways, you might want to check out Ibn Khaldun's Muqaddimah since I think A. J. Toynbee quite liked it.
Anyways, back on topic. I don't have time for these things you call "hobbies." Too much homework. _________________ "Yeast devil! Back to the oven that baked you!" |

At the moment I'm praying for clear cloudless night skies. And I'm making a plan what would I do if such a night ever occured. I have two telescopes which are covered in dust. Blah _________________ "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" |

It may be unintentional, but this sounds like a total putdown on the Whatevererian armed forces.
"Oh, these guys? They're just this little pet project of mine. It's nothing serious, more like a hobby. Sometimes I make them play soldier with me." Haha.
Yes, hobbies. Um.
Blame it on the conformist in me, if you will, but I've always thought it to be more than just a little bit stupid to call something a hobby of yours, when it isn't a sport, an art or a craft. So yeah, a big, unprovoked fuck you to all you "hanging out with my friends" people out there.
Actually, now that I think of it, I do have hobbies. I suppose.
I like write novels during pub crawls. It's sometime around the third place I'm gracing with my presence(usually before I start to see everything in two), I get really inspired and feel a need to express myself. If I haven't found anyone drunk, desperate or dumb enough to sleep with me, I act on this feeling and start scribbling on on the bar until the bartender gives me some paper.
Then I churn out two or three short stories. Either scifi stuff( which I never really finish, since it starts to feel forced halfway through), or things circling around some asshole starving artist guy and his life(not to say that they have any continuity or anything. I just like writing about characters like that), the latter being, as I later discovered, very Bukowski-esque.
I just read some novel-compilation book of his and it's the exact same bullshit I do. I feel bad. I've been a complete hack and I didn't even know it.
I also like treasure-hunting in metal-disposal bins and welding the stuff into funny little sculptures. If "sculpture" is the correct word there.
And, for the standard dosage of blatant hypocrisy in this post, I like listening to music. I mean actually stopping, sitting down and shutting up just to listen to it. I like to sit in my old and outrageously ragged looking half-sofa-thing chair, barricading my door(since there's no lock), turning my phone off and going through my records for about three hours. _________________ bitchez n hose |
