So, in a frustrating bout of procrastination, I'm wondering...
Have I reached that age where I no longer listen to "age-appropriate" music? This is something I used to spend time thinking about: Am I going to be the old guy at the bar, the creepy old guy at the concert, etc.? Thankfully, I'm married and have a career, but...
I'm going to hit the 3-4 soon and I'm looking at my purchased folder from itunes and wondering...
34. United States of Whatever: Liam Lynch: Funny song I heard, and hey, it was only a buck.
35. Spill the Wine: Boogie Nights (?) Something that is, perhaps, age-appropriate for someone who was alive in the 70s
36. A Little Less Conversation: Elvis, remixed: Purchased after seeing too many Ocean movies.
37. Deny (Acoustic version): Default: I actually bought this cd a few years ago, but lost it when I traded in a car. Liked this song after it was tastefully used (the album version) in an episode of TNT's Witchblade, so I don't think this counts.
38. In the Air Tonight: Nonpoint: Bought this while reminiscing about a trip to Paris -- Yes, I went to Paris and paid to see Miami Vice in English. Not sure I should have this heard coming from a faculty office... but I kinda like it.
39. Rock Star: Nickelback. This is my main worry. I think I may be a little too old to be listening to Nickelback -- and it is the second song I've downloaded by Nickelback. Collegues have teased me over this and it makes me wonder: What do the songs we listen to tell us about ourselves? Furthermore, at what point do we stop being ourselves and become the paradigm of what we thought people of a specific age are...? Oh my god... I think I just scripted a show for the defunct WB network. |

Slayer Raining Blood
Johnny Cash Delia's Gone
John Williams The Imperial March
Boston Foreplay/Longtime
Yes Long Distance Runaraound _________________ "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."

I've found better ways to increase my library, which is a 3,104 songs right now and rising. A program called myTunes allows me to download other peoples iTunes songs (when they have the program running on their computer) almost instantly from the intranet. So far though everyone's taste in music has been different from mine. _________________ "Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love." - Albert Einstein |

"i don't know what itunes is, but i know that Nickelback sucks"
itunes is the USA Today of downloadable music. Funny site. I don't want to like Nickelback, but it's like flipping through the TV stations and finding Saved by the Bell. I can't help but watch it.
REM had a couple of songs like that -- Nightswimming almost perfectly matched something off of that Ebo the letter (?) Cd. |

"Collide"-Krystal Meyers
"Forevermore"-Dream Evil
"Gravity"-Circleslide
"Deep Blue"-Keiko Matsui
"How can Heaven Love Me"-Sarah Brightman
At least, I think these are the last songs I've downloaded...
As long as you enjoy it, you should listen to whatever music you want. Personally, I like metal, rock, new age, J-pop, some American pop, country, you get the idea. Why should our music be governed by some sort of stereotype that requires all people above ** years to only listen to @@@@ while people above ^^ years can only listen to ###? Hell, I thought most of the music of my generation (in high school, 6-8 years ago) was pure junk, so you turn to what music you like. I've said my piece; take it for what it's worth. _________________ When life hands you lemons, you make some lemonade. You have a good point. I don't know why, but there are just some things that seem to be a particular way and make you feel a particular feeling. Example: I have an older brother (2+ years). He and his friends have always "seemed" older. Even when you look back at old year books, date people their age or older... it doesn't seem the same as if you were to date someone from that class or year. Maybe this is something that doesn't apply to many or maybe it is just something that affects people dependent upon factors such as the social hierarchy (sp?) of a given high school during which various traits are being developed?. I dunno -- Just a sort of feeling.
40. Tangled up in Blue (bob dylan) I either lost that cd or never had it. Great tune. I like, but not as much, the cover by the indigo girls
41. Down By the River (Neil Young) I can't find the cd from decade and rather than re-buy the cd, I just downloaded the song. Great tune.
42. Southern Man (Also NY) I download this (and the others awhile ago). There is just something about Neil that sings to me. I need to rent that dvd. Heart of Gold, I think.
43. Southern Cross (Crosby, Stills and Nash). A southern theme? Probably not. I just had been listening to the "classics" station. Both Crosby and Stills have had good tunes either with other bands or while solo... What about Nash? Is he the "Garfunkel" of this group?
44. Hero (motion picture version) Chad Kroger. Mostly, I downloaded this song for my wife, although with FX showing Spiderman2 just about every hour, it hasn't been getting to many "plays". |

| Truth be told... I miss Napster. And not for avoiding paying for songs. I'll buy a cd if I like the music. What I miss is all the other stuff -- Smashing Pumpkins playing Steve Miller's "The Joker" or Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl"... Bare Naked Ladies playing "Psycho killer"... Stuff that I'd buy if it were released. Sure, there's ebay, I guess, but I kinda liked being able to hear the quality of the songs rather than shelling out $10-$20 for crap. |

With the $25.00 gift card I got for Christmas I bought The Essential Iron Maiden, an episode of South Park (the one where Cartman freezes himself accidentally for 500 yrs. so he doesn't have to wait three weeks to get a Nintendo Wii), and also "Winder-Wonderland" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. _________________ "Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love." - Albert Einstein |

The last stuff downloaded was actually the entire soundtrack for "Pan's Labyrinth". With such beautiful music, what's not to love? _________________ When life hands you lemons, you make some lemonade.
