Is in full swing (ha ha ha).
I'm working at the George Foreman booth. I don't know if there's any tennis enthusiasts about, but maybe I've seen you, or even given you a tasty sample of what George Foreman's newest kitchen tools can do.
Seriously, I am working at the George Foreman booth. Anyone make it to the Open? |

Difficult one, but I still say it's more in its place in the sports section than the NYC section. _________________ The Justified Ancient of Mu Mu |

Well, he is talking about being in NYC, and the possibility of encountering fellow inmates in RL, not really about what is happening on the court.

I won't be flying up for the event.
Do you get to meet George? Do you get a free grill? Do you get all the hamburgers you care to eat? _________________

Personally, I could care less about what happens in the world of tennis; I cheered when Agassi lost, for it made all the tennis onlookers despondent, and in less of a mood to bothe- , er, I mean, stop by and inquire.
| Complex_Number_States wrote: | | Do you get to meet George? | Yes, at least that's what I'm hoping, people met him last year on George Foreman Day, when he showed up, and grilled in the booth, among other things. (this is my first year) "Civillians" are constantly wandering in and asking when George is going to be there, so I guess he's sort of a regular fixture there. If I don't meet him, I'll be miffed.
| Complex_Number_States wrote: | | Do you get a free grill? | You would think that I do, but no, we don't. There might be a discount, after my mother found out that I was worknig there and basically demanded a gril from me, I asked my boss about it, but she wasn't sure. (we don't actually work for Salton, we're contracted by an independent company)
| Complex_Number_States wrote: | | Do you get all the hamburgers you care to eat? | No, I mean we get some food, (I don't eat beef, but the new grills do chicken breasts in a snap!) but not all that I'd care to eat. Also, when your'e spending so much time being polite and helpful, you can forget to eat. It's wierd, but it happens, probably because there's more stress involved than if it were a desk job. |

Unfortunately, where I am right now, I don't get any channels that show the U.S. Open on TV. Blast!
Big tennis fan, though. Been playing it for a long time and I've been a Pete Sampras fan from 1995 up until his retirement.
Who beat Agassi, btw? _________________ The official MILF-masta of the AlP forums.

Um, I don't know who beat Agassi; I really only knew he was playing because he lost, and it was his last game, so they made a stink about it.
GF Update: I'll be grilling alongside George Foreman tomorrow! |

Federer just pushed Blake aside (fifth in the world and number one American), and now it's Federer and 7 seed Davydenko, a Russian. Roddick (9 seed), plays Mikhail Youzhny. Youzhny beat Nadal, so he's not just anybody. I'm pretty happy with the way things are winding down in this tournament, except of course for Agassi losing to:

after Agassi got knocked out, i have barely any interest in the tournament left. oh well, another title for Federer?
been a fan of Agassi as long as i've been a fan of tennis, which both started at the same moment - while watching his 1999 Roland Garros final. i really hadn't cared for tennis before, and this single match showed me how wrong i was.
btw, the last great match Agassi ever played (2nd round vs Baghdatis) was astonishing. i loved the way both of them left their heart on the court.
i think i can start rooting for Baghdatis now that the slot for my favourite tennis player is vacant. _________________ i have no time for anal love

Sigh.
I was totally ready to take picutres and completely psyched about GF day- we even started wishing passerby "Merry George Foreman Day."
Then he came. Late.
And stayed for a total of half an hour, tops. The civillians got photo ops aplenty, while those of us working for him didn't even get to greet him.
Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed by this turn of events. |

If Roddick beats Youzhny, its Federer and Roddick. That would be awesome. _________________ "Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love." - Albert Einstein |

GO Roddick, I'm watching right now, and Roddick lost 5 straight games in the first set, but Roddick didn't go down completely in this set (so far at least). And he's fighting for a third straight game (in this set). _________________ "Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love." - Albert Einstein |

Through the magic of providence, I did end up getting a grill.
