Imagine this situation:
-Ok, lets introduce ourselves, lets start from here, what are your specialties?
-I'm a first grade teacher
-I'm a pediatric physician
-I'm a computer technician
-I'm a programmer
-I've a Phd in Economics
-I'm a nuclear engineer.
-I'm a Physician with a Magister in Psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology...
...shit...
THIRTY letters for just only one word, god!
I read that word just now in the news, I bet you won't find a longer word... |

Place names, while words by definition, should not really count.
But anyway, antidisestablishmentarianism, at 28 letters, has certainly gotten its ass kicked.
I am sure this is an indication of noobifaction or cluelessness, but WTF is Ph34|2? _________________

Actually, I know enough organic chemistry to probably be able to draw the structure of that massive molecule.
But since it is only probably, and it would take a long time and lots of paper, nah. It would make one hell of a nomenclature exam, though.
Also, I bet there is a shorter name for it, and that structural name is never used. Something like gabapentin or diphenhydramine or some waaay shorter way of writing it.
But yeah, that kinda does kill any interest or excitement in this thread.
Edit: To fix sloppy formatting. _________________

.... Heh. Who wants to try and write out a pronounciation guide to all these? Now THAT would be LONG.
Hey, I found a word NEARLY as long as the one posted in the "read it and weep" link.
http://users.tkk.fi/~jpakkane/sana.html
Read it and shed a few tears. Not as many as the other one. Just a few tears are needed...
AND IT'S IN FINNISH! I LOVE THE FINNISH LANGUAGE. I love ANYTHING Finnish. I love Finland. |

Didn't I say somthing about how number os sylables is more accurate than number of letters in the name thread?
But yeah, 'waterfall' would still be the longest word ever. _________________

No, smiles is the longest word ever, because there is a mile between the first and the last letter. _________________
