|
|
I just read somewhere that "Predator" was originally a comic before it was a movie, and never really took off. Anybody know anything about this? My google searches were unsuccessful. I don't think it's true, because I know that Stan Winston concieved of the original designs for the Predator on really short notice while they were making the movie. I'm pretty sure that was the first time it ever saw light, because they were working with a different design early in production that looked really dorky and they didn't want to continue it. Sure is a good thing too, or we'd have been deprived of one of film's greatest monsters. _________________ The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how good I get, I'll never be as good as a wall.

Hmm, I think they talk about this on the second disc from the 2-disc edition of AvP. Don't know what it exactly was, when I have time I'll investigate. _________________

According to imdb.com,
| Quote: | | The original concept for this film originated as a joke. Someone said that the only person Rocky Balboa of the Rocky series of films had yet to fight was E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. |
Take this however you wish.
Two other fun facts (if you're looking, I found this and the ones below in the trivia section):
1) The original name was Hunter. Not sure what Bernie would have named the character if it was released as Hunter.
2) The original Predator was... Jean Claude Van Damme!! |

I used to know a guy named Haywood Jablomie. What's your point? Sorry, mate. I always wanted to use that name in a sentence. I got nothin' but love for ya, really.
And Van Damme was never the predator on screen. The original on-screen Predator in the original Predator movie (and in the sequel, Predator 2) was Kevin Peter Hall:
http://artists.sciflicks.com/kevin_peter_hall/
Sadly, this talented man died an untimely death. Van Damme, who cannot act his way out of a wet paper bag on a stage of marshmallow, surrounded by the most pliable audience of Arkansans, was never a predator - unless you speak to the women who used to be in the neighborhodd where he grew up. And P.S. he is not - as some rumors have suggested - Jewish. Van Damme is about as Jewish as Dolph Lundgren (I don't care if I spelled his name correctly because he sucks too. ) But Kevin Peter Hall rocks.
Cheers, |

That I did know. I remember hearing he quit because he didn't like wearing the alien suit. That guy is always doing dumb shit like that. He also turned down the part of Johnny Cage in the Mortal Kombat games. No idea why. I guess he figured this "video game" stuff would never last.

So true. Even if he wasn't seven feet tall, he'd still have the great body language and personality required to play a character whose face is covered most of the time. It's really hard to emote through a latex suit. And with Van Damme being short and a no-talent when it comes to acting, well, we're just very lucky to have had Kevin. _________________ The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how good I get, I'll never be as good as a wall.

No, AvP was a comic first.
As in, before the shot in Pred2.
...
Whatever.

He didn't like the part where nobody would be able to see his face... I mean, come on. You're playing an alien... in a sci-fi movie... ofcourse they're not gonna show your face... _________________

A tear of happyness would role down my cheek if I ever were to find myself inside a Pred suit on a movie set. _________________
