No, not at all.
It's pronounced pur-yo-lek
The first syllables are exactly the same as the english words "purr" and "yo". The last syllable is a little bit more difficult, because the ö sound does not exist in english. The closest sound is the e in the english word "her", but stressed and prolongued.
And as I stated in my first post, that's the swedish word for the thing she's holding in her hand. I hoped that people would click on the link to find out what I meant by it. But now you've given it away.
Swedish is not my native tongua, though. That's dutch. And in dutch, it would be called "prei", with a french or scottish "r". The "ei" is pronounced as the english "high".
And complexnumbers, if you take away the pasta and the green beans, you end up with something quite different. So, here's another recipe, a family dish I've improved a little bit - it's Indonesian!
150 gr. purjolök
1/5 yellow paprika
1 green paprika
100 gr. sugar pea
1/5 onion
50 gr. carrot
100 gr. bean sprouts
2 pieces of garlic
200 gr. chicken meat
1 tablespoon Curry powder (preferably Indonesian (javanese)
1 teaspoon of black bean sauce
1 teaspoon of oyster sauce
2 dl. water
Cooked rice for four persons
Salt and pepper
frying butter or asian wok oil
Sesame oil
1 large tablespoon of nutmeg powder
Chop the yellow paprika, onion, carrots and one third of the purjolök in very small pieces. Fry in a frying pan in butter or asian wok oil untill brown. Add a little bit of sesame oil. Add rice. Add curry powder. Add salt and pepper. Fry thouroughly.
Chop or press the garlic in small pieces. Chop the rest of the purjolök, the green paprika, the sugar peas and the chicken in large chunks.
Fry the chicken and garlic, together with a bit of salt and pepper mildly using a wok (large asian frying pan - if you don't have this, a normal frying pan will do). Add the purjolök, green paprika, sugar peas and bean sprouts. Fry on a large fire (or highest position of your electric stove), gradually adding salt, black bean sauce, oyster sauce and the nutmeg. Fry for five minutes while stirring with a wooden spoon. Add the water and let it steam for another 2,5 minutes, stirring.
Serve with dried onions and cashew nuts. _________________ The Justified Ancient of Mu Mu |

Hey, if I say it rhymes with grape, then it rhymes with grape! Didn't you know I had that power? I also get to make up words whenever I want. Two of the many superpowers you get when you pass the Math Teacher Certification Test.

That too.

D'oh!

*looks contrite*
Well, I would guess that anyone who gets this far into the thread would have already seen the big ol' floppy titties, but I might be wrong. Should have used the spoiler tag.

Making up (or altering) recipes is another one of my powers. But it's not a superpower.

This one looks tasty just as it is! No altering required.

This is totally news to me. I have never seen or heard of paprika being anything but a red powder in a spice jar. (Remember, I live in flyover country.) I may have to hunt for this stuff. I know where there is an asian grocery.
Ex-wife number one got the wok. I haven't done the kind of cooking that uses a wok since then. (Damn, it's been eleven years!) I will have to get another one.
Wacky Wokkiness Warning!
Wok-a wok-a wok-a is the sound PacMan makes.
When you hit people over the head with a wok, it doesn't take the shape of their head like a frying pan does. Nor does it cause a big throbbing lump to emerge. Instead, their ears grow into woks (the same size as the wok you used), and their eyes begin rolling like slot machine windows.
(This is true! Try it at home!)
We would sometimes play the "Wok Game" when we were getting stoned back in the 80s.
"Wok Around the Clock"
"Under the BoardWok"
"Keep on A-Wok-in' Me Baby"
"Wokkin' in the USA"
When we had the giggles, this one could make us laugh until we hurt ourselves.
Woks make very poor bedpans. Although, in a pinch, they can serve as satellite antennas for digital TV.

Oh yes, this one sounds quite yummy. I will definitely have to give it a try. Thanks Munan! _________________

No, I think the mistake is mine. This is what we call a paprika in Holland, Sweden and Germany, but apparently not in the english language:

We call them bell peppers.
And they taste nasty to me. They taste like something that would poison you. And picking them out of an already cooked dish doesn't help, because their flavor pervades the dish.
I have unusual taste buds. Yes, it has been experimentally proven that my taste buds work differently from those of most people.
So, dang, that means I will have to alter the recipe. _________________

Only the weird link with the anime girl swinging around the onion-do-hickey worked...

Lol, yeah, you really should let me know how it went - these are personal recipes and I quite like the idea of someone on the other side of the Atlantic whom I've never met making them!
Cashew nuts are optional. It's alsoe really nice if you serve them together with very thin slices of peeled cucumber soaked in lemon juice. _________________ The Justified Ancient of Mu Mu |

I've definitely seen breasts that bounced like that. They're not fake, just really big and floppita floppita floppita. It really looks like someone mocapped a really well endowed model, stuck a leek in her hand, and a shitty anime face on her neck.
The song is disturbing to me because it's delightful and annoying at the same time. What's even better is that I had that link open in one window when I clicked on the second link that had the other girl with the leek, and there was this crazy echoing cacophony of badee-badee-badee-sten-den-lon-doo going on. |

Damn, I can't get that song out of my head for three weeks now. But wookies (<--clicky) and Third Reich Dictators (<--clickittyclick) seem to have that same problem.
What I like about those links is respectively Han Solo's face while watching his co-pilot swinging the leek and der Führer's footwork - that's a funky shuffle I'm going to use to impress the ladies next time I make my appearance on the dancefloor... _________________ The Justified Ancient of Mu Mu |
