The easiest and one of the deadliest combos to get is SMG + Plasma Rifle.
Shoot the PR for about half a second then let the SMG join in.
Ascension (Spell it right?) is a good level for SMG's for some reason. I got 2nd place on a 12 man Free for all using only one SMG, no duelies.
Snipers can prove to be trouble, however. _________________ You forget one thing: rock crushes scissors. But paper covers rock... and

That's still the case with single weapons. The firing button is meant to be hammered, not choked. Still I find that single weapons (even single pistol or whatev) seems to work better for me than duals.
Also nades. MUST HAVE THE NADES! _________________

I find dual wielding very useful, my top combos are:
Dual SMGs
SMG and Plasma Rifle
SMG and Plasma Psitol
Dual Pistols/Magnums (whatever)
Pistol and Plasma Pistol
This comes from a guy who's very good at Halo 2, mind you.
But anyways, like I said, the Sangheili and Yautja are very evenly matched. They each have something to counter the other. Seeing who would win depends on the circumstances. _________________ Only the strongest will survive.

Rocket's a noob weapon. Energy Sword is an even bigger noob weapon. And only squibs use vehicles.
The only times I ever use a vehicle is in CTF, warthog. And the banshee to reach a good sniping point.
I'd rather board a vehicle than to blow it up with a rocket launcher.
Like I said, I snipe. But I actually use the Battle Rifle more than I do the Sniper Rifle. And I'm good with it.
BTW: I do brag. But I don't go screaming OWNED or teabag. THe only thing I'll ever do to gloat is ocasionally shoot the body up. _________________ Only the strongest will survive.

Anyhoo, now that we're talking more about Halo than the actual topic... a good friend of mine bought an XBox... now, should he buy Halo (that's what I tell him because I've got some good memories with that game... Blood Gulch much?) or should he go with Halo 2? |
I prefer Halo 2 personally, but if he gets Halo 1 he'll be a much better player over all.
I just hate that the pistol has a scope. Makes no god damn sense.
I also hate the fact that charging the plasma pistol forever in H2 has no detriment. In the Marathon games, you charge that Zeus Fusion Pistol for too long, aka the gun is beeping like mad, get ready to be blown across the map. _________________

The trick is to treat the keyboard sort of like a gamepad.
Change the keys to somthig ergonomic, get used to it, presto. That's what I did for Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine...
Also, where did you get it? _________________

Theres a thread on it at the Bungie Forums... somewhere.
I had to download, like 2 things to do it though. I never have any luck with downloading things either.
I want to play it, but it was hard to control PLUS really fucking hard... _________________ You forget one thing: rock crushes scissors. But paper covers rock... and

The funny thing about Marathon 2 for the PC is that once it was installed it didn't need the CD to be in the drive to play. So you could literally just install the same CD on a network and bam, you've got yourself a LAN party for the ages.
I might add that a few of the maps used in Halo Multiplayer were from Marathon, like Foundation.
Edit: Kinda off topic but holy crap I just found out about the NES 2. It's a toploading version of the NES that doesn't have that spring loading crap. Top loading = no more damn blinking light syndrome and no more blowing into the cartridges. _________________

Going back on topic, I need to correct my comparison of long range weapons.
Plasma Caster (Pred Shoulder Cannon) = Particle Beam Rifle (Covi Sniper)
Smart Disc = Needler, roughly. And this is a stretch
[edit] The Shoulder Cannon comparison was corrected to me earlier. It's a concentrated shot of plasma that shoots through things, while the Fuel Rod is a big ball of explosion. [/edit]
I should also add that as far as detection skills, the Pred's is completely visual based, with the ability to see through any spectrum with the aid of the mask, and the Elite has motion sensors. The Preds are known for stealth skills among their entire society, and are also much more agile than Elites.
Also as for stealth, it again depends on the Elite Rank. There are the SpecOps Elites, dressed in all black and masters of stealth.
I think that basically it comes down to four things: Rank, personal skill, weapons, and what sort of battle it is, either close range or long distance match.
So lets just say we get a Pred and Elite with equal rank and skill. Long distance, Elite...unless he's stuck with a Plasma Pistol, Plasma Rifle, or Carbine. Close combat, I give it to the Pred. If the Elite is good with grenades he may hold his own for awhile, but if we give them equivallent weaponry, Snipers tends to suck at close range, as do Needlers. Only thing that might save him is the Energy sword, but without being able to match the Pred's agility he's probably screwed. _________________

The Elites are actually very agile and nimble, depending on the rank, I remember in Halo:CE, that sometimes Elite Zealots woul jump litterally 15 feet in the air with an energy sowrd and do a fatal downward strike, which would likely down a SPARTAN II soldier, as well as a Predator. They also have the lunge technique where they charge into ane enemy and ram theor sword into them, killig them instantly.
It appears that the Beam Rifle (Covenant sniper rifle) has enough power to pierce into a Preadators skull, even throught the mask. Landing enough needles into a Predator would aslo destroy them, as well as a direct hit from the Fuel Rod Cannon. The Carbine favored by the Elites use a Solid form of energy which can act as medium AP rounds. The Plasma weapons the Covenant use can burn through some of the lighter armor from the Predator.
But, the Predator uses stealth much more often, so a veteran Predator will have an easy advantgae over the lower-class Elites, if they move slowly. The only way to bypass the motion tracker is to move very slowly, or don't move at all, where PRedator snipers, using the very high-powered speargun can take down even the high level Elites. With the exception of Zealots and SpecOp units, because of their advanced shields.
But you need to consider this, Elites have melee shields, Predators do not. It would take several well ailed blows from the writ-blades or combi-stick/staff to bring down an Elite in close combat. Unless a Predator rams it into the back, severing the spien, killing instantly. But Elites are also very well-trained in melee combat, sword or not. I'm pretty sure though, the Disk can kill an Elite if aimed at the neck or mid-section, which are the 2 most exposed parts of ane Elites armor.
But like I keep stating: This fight depends on the situation, what class of Predator or Elite, what equipment would they have, environment, the lot.
EDIT: A teeny bit more info. _________________ Only the strongest will survive.
